I am looking at to sleds a 1999 SRX with 2600 mile and ohlin suspension in immaculate condition for $1850 with a cover.but is an 11 hour round trip. and a 2001SXR bone stock with 2500 mile in immaculate condition for $1950.after travel the two sleds will be exact same price. which should i buy? is the 99 worth it even tho its 1 year older becausde it has the triple pipes and the ohlins suspension? PLEASE HELP i cant decide which to buy

I assume the SRX is still the short travel?

The simple part is:
SRX-Lake racer
SXR-Trail

If you want stupid fast, the SRX is the right choice and it can be trail riden if your trails stay relatively flat.

You didn't mention what size each of these sleds are, 600's or 700's. What is your main use going to be??? Lots of variables here as the sleds are two very different intentions.

This may just be matter of opinion/AGE but a stock suspension SRX does fine in big bumps, Id suggest a revalve to your weight/ride style, get your butt up off the seat, and buy a 2-4in riser. I have 2 SRX's

1 being comp. stock(Not Long Traveled) with revalved Pioneer shocks
Another being a 136" ExpertX/Pioneer Long Travel Frt Shocks

Obviously if you jump back and forth between the 2 sleds youll notice a big diff. riding in the same conditions, but I still ride my stocker in the same conditions I ride my bump sled in and dont have any issues riding it, just more of a work out for you and the suspension.

depends on what you want a sled for srx is a perf sled fast quick and handles smooth trail like its on rails 144 hp the sxr is a awsome trail sled more travel in rear suspension and only about 116 hp non power valved

700 sx runs regular fuel; has no powervalve issues & you can run the cheapest 2 stroke oil u can find with out consequences.

SRX Vs SXr

Having owned both sleds and logged many miles on them I offer you this opinion:
SRX will corner and accelerate better than the SXr, the top end pull Is addicting.
The SRX will hand your A@# to you in the giant bumps but flies straight and true in the moguls, The SXr will be better in the Giant stuff with more travel both in the front and rear and is pure comfort in the moguls.
The SRX runs on Premium fuel, the SXr " if not tweaked " will run on Regular fuel.
When modified the SXr will run close to a stock SRX. A Modified SRX will be hard to beat regardless of make or modification of the compitition.
Lake racer / Trail sled = SRX.
Big mile trail sled / play toy = SXr.
I wish I could afford to keep both in my fleet.
There are many more items to compare between the two sleds and even more modifications avaliable, all are up to the driver and what he wants the sled to do. Good luck with your decision and by the way they are both great sleds. SpartaSXr ;)!

Agree with everything you said besides the SRX cornering better than a SXR, me personally feel more confindent taking the corners harder on the my g/f's SXR than I do on either of my SRX's.

i think it may be set up....my sx was second to none in cornering ! but i think i can get the srx there too!

sx and Srx are both short traveled sleds and will corner flatter than the long traveled SXr. IMO

I've got an 01 SXr stock and i think that thing flies around the corners, I am gonna be rebuilding my suspension in the next few weeks and when its done i am almost scared to see how fast i can run the trails. DV8 rode to cadillac with me last season and he can attest my sled was hauling through all the corners without much problem.I haven't rode an srx but one time but another guy i know couldn't keep up in the corners or moguls. I honestly vote for a modified SXr. But thats just me.

Call me crazy but i enjoyed riding my sxr more often than my srx.The srx is a sweet sled but i just felt like i could ride harder on my sxr 600.I ride with a few guys with new ski doo xp's and they still dont believe my sxr 600 is stock because im always right with them. The srx is way faster WHEN the trails are nice and flat, any moguls and your pounding your spine through your skull. An added bonus, the sound of the sxr cant be beat!!
