I am looking at to sleds a 1999 SRX with 2600 mile and ohlin suspension in immaculate condition for $1850.but will be an 11 hour round trip to pick it up. and a 2001 SXR bone stock with 2500 mile in immaculate condition for $1950. after traveling expenses the two will cost me the same. which should i buy? is the 99 worth it even tho its 2 years older because it has the triple pipes and the ohlins suspension? PLEASE HELP i cant decide which to buy. also are both of these machines a nice ride or will i need a chiropractor after a day of riding

srx all the way!

sxr has long travel skid= more comfortable,

srx has short travel suspension= damn fast

srx has alot more power.

if its a 98 SRX and a 01 SXR 700, i would go with the SXR. dual headlights, separate heaters, much lighter, tunnel protectors installed, better suspension, 3 yr newer sled, good hand me down to kids.....etc.

now if you were talking an 02 SRX then different story.

WAY too much emphasis on speed. i must be getting old.

02 srx isn't any faster then all the others, well, not DRAMATICALLY faster, all it has is the $hitty DCS. other then that its just like the 00-01's

Srx Pics

It is a 99 SRX vs a 2001 SXR... The srx had the crank replaces along with a rebuilt top end.. it has 1900 miles on sledd 900 on motor.. bender can and exhaust, bender adjustable rods and rear suspension, ohlins shocks all the way around, yamaha cover, bender clutch kit...sxr is in mint condition looks like it was never even rode and bone stock with 2400 miles... the 99 as you can see form pics has minor tears on the seat and minor rust on the trailing arm.. I love speed but do mostly trail riding in old forge so there is lakes as well please help guys i have to decife which to buy tonight

Replied for ya on HCS just couple things to go over.

Also that looks like stock transfer rods from the one pic, and i wasnt aware unless installed after of ohlins in the rear from factory pretty sure thats aftermarket installation.

which do you think

which would you buy man? the 99 has the ugrades but the 01 is in perfect condition... same price except 4 hours of travel for the 01... how much power difference am i talking here?

better pic of rear

Power difference is HUGE like 30hp, ive never seen those rods before looks like stock bottoms with a aftermarket type adjuster on top, the top is definately not stock.

what do you think

which would you get this sled with 1900 miles on sled 900 on motor for 1900 delivered or stock 01 SXR with 2400 miles for 1950 not delivered

Abso-poso-lutely with out a doubt buy the sx-r. unkillable with the lowest grade gas & oil!!!

The SRX looks to be in pretty rough shape. All the extra's may sound good, but I think your asking for trouble if you buy it. Any pics of the SX-R?

the sx-r is sooooo close to the srx 0-75 when properly clutched & you can drive it like a 4 stroke to the handlebars all day & can,t kill it! I can dial in your clutching. That srx will break your heart & pocket book! Seen it happen a kajallion times. Stay away from that particular srx. I have a lot of experience fixing those sleds. Just trying to help you out cus I have seen this played out so many times!
