There is a gas station near me that sells 111 octane race fuel, i was wondering if its alright to run that fuel in my sled, 2001 srx700, completely stock, i hear from some people its pointless if you don't have high compression heads, and from a bunch of other people i hear it cleans your carbs out real nice and the rest of your motor too....

I was gonne mix half and half, half race/ half 93.

thanks

Its ok to run it, But the only reason for going up in octane is to prevent detonation, You can run premium 93 and not have a problem, "from a reputable gas station". You can also mix it if you want but last I chacled 110 octane here was near 4.50 a gallon, and premium 93 is 3.40 a gallon.

those people are right about it being pointless to run it in your sled. you will lose power, because the higher the octane, the slower the burn. your engine is not built up enough, to need the high octane fuel. the only reason for the need to run race gas, is because of high compression, and/or really advanced timing. also, it doesn't clean out your carbs. 110 turbo blue fuel, leaves a nasty blue gummy residue in carbs. seen it a million times. stick with the premium fuel....you'll be happier, not to mention your pocket book.

Your sled will run like crap; be hard to start & way down in hp!
