Stud install

We have run 96 , 120, 144 and 192 in our sleds and honestly i like 192 the best by FAR. Im running almost .250 penetration on my 192 and it hooks up great on hardpacked, 96 still spins, 120-144 small differences from 96 then 192 was night and day i hook anywhere in hardpacked or lake the only place i cant get bite is loose stuff but then studs dont matter and ill probably be changing that in the future.

The problem with bigger studs and lower numbers that i have found is taller studs have a tendency to bend and break more, (i run tall nuts now). My last 192 track had 5k on it when i took it off and the track was alright the problem was in lugs and clips. So decided to change it. But in the future id like less rotating mass so probably gonna try some different style studs and higher pen.

this comming from a guy that takes his sled to the dealer!!!!!!

what do you mean by that?

I do all the work to my sled, i have the dealer winterize and summerize it, because i "thought" they did a decent job, and i am always busy.

I have an 03 Viper and 96 down the middle in a V pattern is a versatile amount of studs to have. Not too heavy, none on the outside to worry about, provides enough bite for safety, and can still get you going quickly in icy conditions. I've had no problems with mine. I don't pin the gas on glare ice/concrete/or roads, so I don't need more than 96. I don't make a habit of racing, but in a 1000 ft radar run there wasn't an 800 on the lake that could outrun my stock Viper. I was incredibly impressed.
96 works for me, and I don't see why it wouldn't for you.
Track drill bit is a MUST. You can remove the two bolts holding the skid and let it drop down. I roped the back end up and was done in three hours.

I run Those tall nuts on my 1.125" Mixed picks and studs. That's .250-.375 penetration on my .75 track and I've yet to bent one stud.

It was really easy to get them back in... I had my brother lift the track up while I lined up the hole and just put the bolt back in... no problem at all. Handy to have another person around though.
This was me busy at work last fall.

Thanks Ak that's what I am going with. Was it easy getting the rear bolts back in?

Nope, I didn't loosen it or the belt. I simply took out the bolts and let the track/suspension hang down. I could move the track by hand. Good luck with the install.

Thanks for the pic. Did you loosen the track first then remove the bolts?

Thanks again for all the help. Once my track cutter comes in a will do the install, hopefully this or next weekend.
