Hey guys i just bought a 2000SX-R in immaculate condition. Any advice on what i can do to make it fast cheap? anyone know of good sites just to dress it up asfar as accessories? all i can find is OEM parts

i have talked to a few tech advisors on here and they said not to... THat its not worth having to run the premium fuel in them? they said just in the clkutching gain taht mutch speed

Reed spacers...used about $30
Bore the silencer...free
clutching...$60ish(3X4.5 gram rivets & a used RX-1/Apex helix)

For $100 it will be a fun ride.

3.5 beers or about 2 hours.
Forgot
run 142.5 main jets & lower needles.
Add 1.5 beer for a total of 5.

put a wanted ad right on here. A shop will kill ya. see if there is some one local & post that too
ya never know
or you could fly me in(be about the same as a dealer would charge)

Been der dun dat 12 years ago
pro,s vs cons
stock = 15 mpg on the worst grade regular gas u can buy
piped= 9 mpg (on a good day) with good quality premium fuel.
Stock = unkillable kinda like a 4 stroke
piped= 1 bad batch of premium fuel & you just had a bad day
For a younger guy on a limted budget stay unpiped for now
I was there in 1997!!!

to add to turks comments ,(no direct experience with piped 700 sxr's) but mods like that make sleds more tempramental to temp (or bar. ) changes ie:run great one day dog the next ...unless you rejet for the conditions it won't run consistant everyday in every condition...ask your self how much wrenching do you want to do? If you just want to ride it and have fun and get the most (TROUBLE FREE) out of it follow turks advice ..Those sleds are a riot with a single pipe!!!!

heres a few things you can do for very cheap

1. Get a new head gasket and peel it 1 layer and install it
2. good clutch set-up from Turk
3. reed spacers
4. bored silencer
5. 142.5 main jets and drop the needles 1/2 clip position
6. get (4) 5.38 inch wheels to replace the front 4 outer wheels that are 5.125

Do all this and that sled will take down alot of sleds on the trail.

Drop the needles 1/2 not 1 full notch
Peeling the head gasket is 4-6 hp & needs/should have premium...your call
billet levers are just bling.
DIY would be $250

yeah i no the levers are just bling lol but the head gasket i have to run premium fuel? how many mpg am i going to lose? with gas prices its prolly not worth it eh?

Turk here is what another guy posted on HCS....I have the same sled, bender pipes are a great addition, holtsman tempaflo works great also,I use heelclickers in the primary and a bender helix in the secondary, very fast sled....wat do u think?

Turk helped me pipe my SXR600. It was amazing!! However, he's not kidding with the 9 mpg. I finally took the pipes off and went back to the stock exhaust and clutched the beast. It's still a very fun ride.

If you want a set of pipes, clutching components (helix, weights & spring), jets etc. Let me know ASAP. I'll sell you the whole package for $400.00 plus shipping. The pipes are in good shape, they were ceramic coated but have a few blemishes on them.

I have a guy interested in the pipes so let me know.

Len
