yesterday i fired up my srx 700. while it was warming up, it started to backfire through the exhaust. every 30 seconds or so it would pop. lifted the hood and watched it. when it does this, you could see the motor jerk and the exhaust bounce off the exhaust manifold a bit. seemed after warming up it was fine. any ideas why its doig this?its a 98 mountain srx 700 tripple. also kind of an eratic idle when it happens.
did you clean the carbs this year?
If you hit the throttle at all or raised the rear up in the air, gas can get into the exhaust manifold, when its running it burns the excess in the pipes, until its gone,

one of mine does the same thing ...does the soothing condenser have anything to do with this problem ?

I would also say go through the carbs. It would be the most probable place to start after sitting all summer.
