Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and the proud new owner of a 2002 SRX 700. I've been reading all of the great threads here over the last week or two and I'm trying to decide what to do with the rear suspension on my SRX. I'll be mostly on the trails and maybe 20% of the time 2-up with a seat jack. I'm 230lbs and my fiance is about 115lbs. I was thinking about buying some adjustable aftermarket long travel shocks (ohlins) for an RX-1 and respringing them but I'm not sure if they will fit in my skidframe. I don't really want to put a different skid in my sled at this point but I do want some adjustability and comfort when I have two people on board. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If they are for a pro-action RX-1 skid, they should work. You will have to get longer limiter straps also. Not sure about the transfer rods on your 02, seems like there was a difference in length from the earlier model SRX's. Im sure someone can help on that.
Good luck and welcome to the site.

You can long travel the skid. Use longer shocks from a viper or rx1. Change out your limiter straps and also the transfer rod spacers (viper). Do a search on long traveling. You will find a lot of good info.
I long travelled my 97 sx front and back. Night and day diff.

I used pioneer to convert my 97sx into long travel...it worked well. I also made a srx into 136 long travel using an rx-1 center shock and viper rear but, I changed the control rods to adjustable viper rods. I am not sure if you are able to go to rx1 shocks without changing the control rods..you will have to at least change the spacers. I would check this stuff with Bruce at Pioneer. The center shock on the rx-1 is a soqi aluminum 40mm body take apart shock which is pretty good. The rear shock on a rx1 is a steel bodied shock that isn't any good, that is why I used the viper shock. Here is a description of the kit Bruce sells.

SX, SRX REAR LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION KIT

Greatly improve the ride of your sled without affecting the handling! We take your rear shocks, install new shafts, re-valve them, and change the center shock spring. When we’re done you have the same amount of rear travel as the SX-R & SXViper. The major difference is this kit is designed with more “set-in” on the rear, keeping the rear ride height at nearly stock level when sitting on the sled. The increased travel allows us to keep the spring rates lower, while the longer travel gives the shocks more time to react. This combination gives you a better (plusher) slow speed ride, improves the ability to go through the bumps at higher speed, and increases weight transfer. Send us both of your rear shocks and we install new factory parts. We send them back with all of the necessary parts and instructions for easy installation. Specify year, model, rider weight, and riding style when sending shocks in. After-market control rods are not necessary when installing this kit.

SRX – SX Long Kit '97-'99 SX, '98-'99 SRX:...$359.95

2000-2002 SRX:.....$349.95 ng travel on your srx
