Does anyone know about putting the 05' Pro Mountain suspension on any year shortie Viper? I have a few opportunities to purchase shorties then would look for the 05' suspension to install.
Would this be a hard install?

well you would need a tunnel extension, the track and the suspension, and a drop bracket of some sort, as for installation, i have no clue at all, but I would say once the drop bracket you need is installed it should be just drill new mount holes, bolt on the new track/suspension, maybe drop a tooth or 2 in the gearing, and use 7 tooth drivers, or why dont you hold off and wait till you see a Viper Mountain for sale? It would probably cost more at purchase but once you get a track and suspension and tunnel extensions, drop a couple teeth in the gearing, it will probably be cheaper to buy a Viper Mountain, just my 2 cents.

Bravo, your very right about just buying one. But I've been lookin for one for a couple months now and havn't come across too many. And, now that the Greenback has gained some ground to the Loonie, there's no point in going South unless the deal is really good. There seems to be a lot more shorties for sale, and some pretty good deals too. So, if I can't find a Viper Mountain, then I'll make one!
The 05 Mountain skids are hard to find because they worked very well. I did see one a while ago for sale on SnoWest.com. 8-tooth drivers are what come stock on the Mtn Viper as opposed to the 9-tooth on the 121. The bulkheads are the same, but the tunnel, coolers, braces, and brackets are different.
With an extension, hoses, crossover tube or mtn rear exchanger, mount brackets, track, and drivers the shorty can be converted. I have the mount locations somewhere around here if I can find them.
There is an XTX skid for sale on here. I am doing this conversion now, but I have a complete Mtn Viper tunnel on mine.
Other 144 skids work also and are easier to find, and cheaper to buy.

Hey why dont you get the XTX skid Ding said was for sale here, if itd for good price i'd go for it, you'd have the good short track-handling on hard pack, and have full Flotation of the 144 skid, because of the 6-degree tip-up on the end of the rails where a 121 skid ends. Its the best of both worlds. Go for the XTX skid. How much are those Viper Shorties selling for??? But hey, its gonna be your sled, its your money, so its your choice!!! Im just telling you what i think about it, its a good idea, plus converting it sounds more fun than just buying it, another good point!!!
