just wanted some thoughts on a 98 mountain srx 700 tripple. how are these in the deeper snow and mountain bowl riding. it a 136 and long travel.pretty much stock.would like to try some mountain riding this year with this sled. any opinions? is it a mountain sled, or just a flatland ditch banger.
 
Mine worked amazingly well with a 2" track in real deep snow. Clutching is way off. Sled needs to run at 8300 rpm.Those worked well in spite of the weight. Loved mine.

any suggestions on some clutching, jetting?
 
Been 8 years & didn,t write anything down.
8dn-20,s from a 00-02 srx work great.
 
136 2" will make it ok for some off trail riding. i wouldnt count on making any highmarks without goin to a longer track. The srx chassis is nose heavy and plows through the snow rather than floating on top like a true mountain sled. the attack angle of the track is too steep and tends to trench when taking off in deep snow. 2 things you can count on....inability to manuver/carve with ease compared to a mt max or mt viper. and it will be a really heavy machine. but if you arent looking to do some serious boondocking and hillclimbing it will be a great sled.
 
Tightened limiters ; a good set of wide skiis & it floated very well.My 01 mm was better but the srx had more grunt.
