I am looking at these handguards(http://www.powermadd.com/products/starserieshandguard.html) and I am wondering if I need a Bar Riser so that they won't hit the windshield, which by the way is a blue chrome low profile windshield. If I do hoe much of a riser 1", 2"? Will I need longer cables if I go with a 2" riser. Last thing is will I notice a big difference when trail riding with a 2" riser, will it be uncomfortable?

Thanks guys for the help!

I dunno about the star guards from powermadd, but i got the power-x guards from them on my 2001 Phazer Mountain Lite, i have the stock windshield, with a 2 inch riser from powermadd to, mine just barely touch the windshield, and thats if its turned as far a sit can go, with the low windshield and a 2" rise, you should be perfect, plus you'll have a bit better riding position. I only ride standing up, i hardly sit down, unless im on groomed trails. Plus, i havent tried it out on the snow cuz i only had it for a couple weeks. As far as i know, as long as its a short track, you should be able to go a 4" rise. The mountain sleds have a rise in the bars or steering post i think, so i could only use a 2", and it works great with my guards, if i get a low windshield, i could use the stock bars with handguards, and you'll have a better looking sled to, lol. Oh yeah, you said on the trails will it be uncomfortable, i dont think it will, its only a 2" rise, it will be better standing up, like i said before, but sitting down i dont think it will make much of a difference

dont know about the hand gaurds but you wont notice riser block that much i have a 2" in and it was a lot better hand position and felt like the bars werent in your lap

You should be able to get away with the 2" riser w/o cable extensions. I just put a 3" on my 01 SRX, it was tight but it fit. I got an extended brake hose though just to put my mind at ease, but you should be fine whit the 2". I havent actually got to ride with the riser yet but just from sittin on it, dreamin about the trails, it seems like it will be quite comfortable. Like the pervious post tho, I do most of my ridin standin up and when I actually do sit down the bars wont be rite in my lap anymore. I tink it will be a nice improvement from the stock location.

I actually just ordered those same hand gaurds.... still waitin for them to get here

yeah just order the set for snowmobiles, I read somewhere that you can put the ATV mounts on a snowmobile to, lol

I would think they are the same thing, no? I had a set on one of my old quads and from what I've seen so far the ones for a sled look pretty much like pretty much the same thing. In either case, its just a clamp that goes around the actual bar. They cant be that much differernt

I was just reading something earlier about how the mounts didn't fit on the bars and you had to put them on the grips to the right of the gas and the left of the brake or something like that so i thought i would ask, just to clarify and make sure i should get the mounts from them or someone else.

The sled mount is made a bit diffferent, apparently they are a bit weaker because you do nt flip or crash your sled as much as a quad/MX bike, the Quad/MX mount will work on a sled, but it is stronger than the sled mount to take a crash/roll so it wont break so easily.

Good to know, I'll be lookin into the ATV mounts in that case.

On my 125 the hand gaurds clamp on the bar and then bolt into the ends of the bars as well. Those things are rock solid, they've been tested a few times. Is that the type you are talkin about? If so some with handle bar hooks might run into some problems(Like me)

I have those same handgaurds and snowmobile mounts on my 2002 viper. You need a 2" riser block in order to clear the low profile windshields. Just put them on last winter.

I have the same handgaurds with a low windy and a 3" riser on my Viper. I added a stainless steel brake line. I also added a seat riser 4" to the seat which made the sled feel totally different. You should have no problem with the 2". I had that set first then switch to the 3" latter.
