I just pulled my carbs, and cleaned them, using the instructions from this site. When I fired it up it sounded fine. two days later I fired it up for a friend and it ran like crap! It wouldn't rev up, just bog at about 5 or 6 grand. The only thing I could think of was that the fuel screw was set to 1 1/4 turns so I set to 1 1/2 like my shop book said. SO I took the carbs back off and reset the fuel screws to what they were (1 1/4). I fired it up, it sounded fine. But then I let it sit for an hour and fired it up again, It ran like crap again! This time worse! It would rev to 5 or 6 grand, then bog then only rev to 3000. Let it idle a minute then It would rev to 5 or 6000 then bog again and then only rev to 3000.

What did I do wrong? BTW, this is a 98 700sx.

I would suggest you take them carbs off again(I know it is a pain in the azz) but,you must have missed something somewhere.Use a carb cleaner and compressed air.Did you accidently bend a float.Check also to see if your cable is not to tight.TORS might be kicking on.Just did mine and SRX idles great and revs good.:dunno:

Thanks guys, I did mess around with the throttle cable a bit, thought there was too much play in the throttle, when I was putting the carbs back on on the first time. I'll bet I got it too tight now. I'll look at tomorrow.

Well, ok... I went out to set up for the siding, and she called my name, Andy, come here fix me please. Anyway, I adjusted the idle speed and end play on the throttle. Thanks, she runs great. I misunderstood the endplay thing in the shop book. Now I can work on that siding.
