have an 01 srx and when its idling it has quite a bit of fluctuation. it can jump from 1500 rpm to 2100 then back down in a few seconds. any thoughts on this?
Crank seals?? I had a 600 twin that did the same thing. PTO seal was bad allowing it to suck air and lean out that cylinder causeing the idle to jump like that.
Clean your carbs,
Is this just when you first start it while it's warming up and once it is warmed up it's ok? If it is don't worry about it my 99 did this and i even posted a video way back of it and was told not to worry about. Mine would go up to around 3500rpms then go back down to 1700rpm's. Once it was warm it was ok

carbs were just cleaned, so that's probably not it, i let it run for about 2 minutes, would it be up to operating temp by then?

No, you should probably actually ride it for a while to get it to operating temp

If your worried about a crank seal, take some starting fluid and give a quick spray around your PTO seal, if it jumps when you do this then thats your problem. By the sound of it though you dont have anything to worry about, mine acts the same way as soon as you get it up to temp it runs great
