You may have a thing with the regional idea. I've been referring to them as crotch rockets for probably 10+ years and I'm 36.
You right though, back on topic!

yea i kinda figured trees dont move. i agree deer are dumb. as far as people and blind spots its pretty much the same concept as meeting fellow sledders in a blind corner. you almost have to check your pants when its all said and done.
i would say if your riding snowmobile during day in a ditch or open meadow.its safer than riding a bike in a city or interstate/highway at night. but i think you can ride a bike for days on end in rural south dakota pretty confidant in broad day light. i dont ever recall of any major bikes wrecks around home, compared to people on sleds. do you ss20

A lot more people drink and ride sleds since there is barely any form of policing for drunken riding a sled.
I think that explains about 90% of sled accidents up north in WI at least.

What major snowmobile wrecks have there been around here though? There was that kid from mitchell that died last year on Ohlman St. riding his motorcycle, and how many people die every year in Sioux Falls? Most of them are self inflicted wrecks but still. I'd much rather meet another sled on my sled than a car/pickup/semi/deer on my motorcycle. When you get halfway around the corner on a sled and see another sled coming towards you, you'll react and adjust accordingly, most of the time preventing a wreck. Most people in cars won't notice they hit a motorcycle until they hear the clunk and run my damn head over with their tire. Then you've got other cars behind ya that might run ya over too. I've never had anybody coming around a corner on a sled scare me as much as that car that's waiting to turn left in front of me. As hard as those trails and trees are, they still ain't as hard as asphalt. Trails and trees won't skin you like a cat either. Yes, they're both dangerous but snowmobiling doesn't even touch street riding on a motorcycle. If I lived in the city I wouldn't own a street bike, no frickin' way.

Both are dangerous. If they weren't, they wouldn't be any fun.
This thread should not be a battle for what is better.... please lets just say some words and move on... no one needs to force there point.
