anyone ever try to run a o2 sensor in the exhaust can ..... i'm sure it could be very helpfull but not sure if u can hookup if a sled doesnt have a batterie

Just wondering how an o2 sensor could help? I know it would help to predict how complete of a burn is being outputted, but could it also be used to sense detonation? What is the idea behind the o2 sensor?
to know how ritch or lean u are .. just like a car ... sled should run around 11.8 ... egt help alots too but i'm sure a o2 could tell more on it

i think it would be hard to get proper reading in can and iam not sure of what would be a normal reading .ive set many jap cars up with a lap top program when turbos are installed but its a different os sensor its for cal only good question

car/trucks usually have a O2 in the collectors of long tube headers and or the "Y" pipe and one O2 after the cat.
In theory the best place to put one would be the fist place that all the pipes Join back together (Bender Can). If a O2 was put in a single pipe it would not be as accurate especially if a cylinder with out the O2 Leans out.
A O2 will not show an actual detoniation or Ping. It will show the leaning out that could have possibly caused it. Knock Sensors do that.
And by the way it would not be a regular O2 it would be a Wide Band O2.

well i'm pretty sure it will have good reading at full throttle... just not sure if u can connect them to a sled cause they don't run batterie
to know how rich/lean a 2 stroke is you would use exh. temp probes or pyrometer, an 02 sensor would not be the tool for the job. The oil added to a 2 stroke for lubrication would ruin the 02 sensor in short order. Having said that, you still need to be able to read a spark plug and piston wash to be able to determine what your correct exh. temp is for th where the probe is placed, and the type of probe makes a giant differance in the actual temp readings. It is merely a tool to help you keep a watch on a engine after you have put in the test/field time of looking at the plugs, reading piston wash, watching your fuel flow on a dyno, etc.
