I am putting a 2" riser block on a Viper and I am unsure if I am supposed to just not use the silver part the goes underneath the bars in stock form or do I use it somehow. The reason I am unsure is because with the bolts that came with riser, they are about 1.5" too long so i thought i was doing it wrong, because i was going to not use it because it has a tab sicking out and it wouldn't fit into the block so i thought I was not supposed to use it??? I have a picture of the riser i have and the silver piece i am talking about.
Is the first picture the way it should be? Problem is, is that there is a little tab sticking out of silver piece so i didnt think this was right but i would do it this way if there was no tab , should i grind it off?
Second?
Third?
Fifth picture shows that tab I am talking about.

yeah I came across the same problem with my mountain lite, I just took a hack saw and sawed it off, and then filed it down smooth, set up 2 and 3 will not work, just impossible, unless you cut the bottom half of the circle for the bars to fit, and i don't think I would trust it like that anyways. So pic #1 and just grind/saw off that little tab, i have no clue as why it is there, anybody else know???
Pic #1 is correct for that riser.

Just finished and yep I went with pic 1, I just got the angle grinder and took that tab off. Also got the hand guards on there and they look really nice!
Safe to assume you won't be sending them back to me then? I'm glad it all worked out for you.

Oh yeah!!! I will take pics in the next day or so, I don't have my camera right now.
Be sure to put the clamps that go over the bar with the short side to the rear. tighten the front bolts first, and then the rear. The clamps are designed to be installed this way. That tab that you ground off was there simply to orient the bottom plate correctly on the steering post. I put a little mark on the side where it was and always put this on the left side like it came stock. If you ever question it just look for the notch in the steering post plate.
