STUPID PEOPLE
Ok, I might be the only one here but I just want to vent alittle and maybe some others do too....
So SE lower MI got out first snow on monday (if you really even want to call it a snow... more like a dusting). But anyway, people were freakin the out on the roads in the morning!! I know the people that live around here heard about it because there were accidents, road closures, traffic jams, you name it, all over the place! I usually have about a 35-40 min commute to work in the morning and it took me 2 1/2 hours to get in yesterday!!!!
I know it was alittle icy in some spots but DAMN People this is Michigan!!! I know you've seen snow before!!!!
Does anyone share my frustration.....?

People need to take there cell phones and what ever else they play with in there cars on there way to work and stick them up there a !!! And I love how channel 2-4-7 have to remind people how to drive each winter, give me a break!!! With that being said

Yep, thats actually the same area I was stuck in and thus is the basis for this thread. I work on Beck Rd. just south of 96. That whole area was F'in rediculous on Monday.

her in fredericton new bruswick you need a helmet and football gear to stay alive our drivers load there drawers with one snowflake it takes me 10 minutes to get to work one snowflake and an hour iam sitting in traffic
Its the 50/50 factor in lower Michigan! 50% of the people are so afraid of it they drive 45 in a 70mph zone, and 50% forget that snow can get slippery and still try to drive 80mph!!
Im in the second 50% untill I run into the back of the first 50%!

Yeah, I'm kinda rite in the middle. I've lived in MI my whole life, the last 6 years in Northern MI. I know what the snow can do to the roads but at the same time I know how to control my truck. I definately dont freak out at the snow but I do keep it in mind and usually drive accordingly. I just others felt the same way. Like you said, most of the time its one or the other and most of the time this is how it works out....
You get the crazy @$$ hole that does 80 in blizzard on icy roads and he usually plows into the lil ole lady thats freakin out about the snow and only doin 25mph in a 70 mph zone.... big accident....after that... cluster

Usually the most dangerous thing to do is drive much slower than what is expected. The people that are tentative about driving in snow should maybe defer not to drive in those conditions. However going 80mph in a snow storm is stupid, well, unless you are on a snowmobile
Over this weekend in a cold rain, I had a trucker either fall asleep behind me, or he just wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden he was righton my tail on the freeway doing 70 or so, and he had to panic brake in the left lane, and there was traffic in both lanes. I got as close to the car in front of me so I would not get invloved in his issue while I saw his rig swaying all over the road.
Next thing I knew he came up alongside of me in the right lane and tried to force me off the road. He was honking his air horns at me too, visibly PO'd.
Seeing that he was the one in error, and I won't even try to let his rig talk it out with my grand cherokee, I simply stepped on the gas, did 90mph for a while and got around 20 cars or so to keep him off of my tail.
I have no clue why he thought I was in the wrong, but I was not going to find out what his problem was.
In all my years of driving, this was the first case of a trucker being totally out of line. Usually they are predictable, and just usually are waiting to get around, or over out of the left lane, and they don't like getting cut off. This was plain crazy, and less than 10 miles from my destination.

There is NO distinction between Summer & Winter here in MI. People drive like idiots year round! It's either, WAY TOO FAST, or WAY TO SLOW! Then, Not only do we have to deal with the cell phones, but now it's texting too... I personally can't wait till the state puts a stop to those distractions..
Couldn't agree more!!orlo said:There is NO distinction between Summer & Winter here in MI. People drive like idiots year round! It's either, WAY TOO FAST, or WAY TO SLOW! I , unfortunetly because of work, spend to much time on the phone while driving and would love to see the law prohibit it also.
Sometimes I hang up the phone and have no Idea where Im at!!
