Usually the most dangerous thing to do is drive much slower than what is expected. The people that are tentative about driving in snow should maybe defer not to drive in those conditions. However going 80mph in a snow storm is stupid, well, unless you are on a snowmobile
Over this weekend in a cold rain, I had a trucker either fall asleep behind me, or he just wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden he was righton my tail on the freeway doing 70 or so, and he had to panic brake in the left lane, and there was traffic in both lanes. I got as close to the car in front of me so I would not get invloved in his issue while I saw his rig swaying all over the road.
Next thing I knew he came up alongside of me in the right lane and tried to force me off the road. He was honking his air horns at me too, visibly PO'd.
Seeing that he was the one in error, and I won't even try to let his rig talk it out with my grand cherokee, I simply stepped on the gas, did 90mph for a while and got around 20 cars or so to keep him off of my tail.
I have no clue why he thought I was in the wrong, but I was not going to find out what his problem was.
In all my years of driving, this was the first case of a trucker being totally out of line. Usually they are predictable, and just usually are waiting to get around, or over out of the left lane, and they don't like getting cut off. This was plain crazy, and less than 10 miles from my destination.
