so what do you guys think? SRX VS RX1

My experience on the ICE between the 2, go both ways i have seen the RX1 lose and i have seen it win. Stock for stock it's really close, it all comes down to the tuner.

GUYS, TRUTH HERE NOW. EVERY FAST RX-1 I SAW HAS A HAIR DRYER OR NOS. NOW, I HAVE RACED SOME WELL SET-UP RX-1 WITH CLUTCH KITS, FILTER KITS, etc WITH MY STOCK 02 SRX ( except a clutch kit i built and no not h.c set-up ) ON OUR 1/2 STRIP I WALK AWAY FROM THEM PRETTY EASY. YOU WON,T HEAR ME TALK BAD ABOUT TO MANY YAMAHA,s BUT THE RX-1 WAS NOT ONE OF THEIR BETTER SLEDS. THE APPEX AND THESE F.X NYTRO WAY FASTER AND BETTER. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I like the hair dryer thing, LOL! Normally i post on the 4 stroke side, so i get to see both sides of this. the RX1 guys would be screamin they would smoke you and you guys are sayin otherwise. I love both sleds, they are very diffrent from one another but both good in there own way. If i could shove the rx1 motor in the srx chassis, stick a M12 under it, yea that would be a good sled

So the RX is basically like a new version of the Vmax4..except with better ride, handling, and fuel economy LOL...oh, and they're faster out of the box....

:)

A good SRX will school my RX on the lake..no doubt...unless there's a bump. Then we'll both have to stop and weld are W arms.

Set up for the trail... that 1" finger track on the RX1 has better traction than a .920 on the srx, so RX1 for the first 600-1000ft. after that unless it has a turbo OR NOS... be prepared to EAT SNOW DUST. :2strokes:

Ok guys,

The first year I had my srx we all out raced it accross the lake with a stock 03 RX-1. It would be about 1 to 2 lengths ahead of it all the way to 110MPH when I let off. The next Year I had it ported, heads done, and a very crappy Clutch setup (Stock 98 primary, 46/40, red secondary). The same race but warmer, and very similar snow conditions...... My SRX 7-8 lengths. Last year I had the pipes put on, The case cleaned up a little more, a more advanced clutch setup. Unfortunately my buddy that had the rx-1 bought a brand new apex. So The same rx-1 vs. SRX couldn't be done. So The Apex GT was next in line. The SRX pulled the apex GT about 6 lengths. This year, I will be getting the heads done with a tighter squish, some gearing, some OD and some more tuning. We'll see how things turn out next!

I thought this was supposed to be Stock VS Stock. Of course when you do work on either outcomes will change. Run stock SRX vs Ted 's RX1 no chance! I think SRX has the best stock motor (2 stroke) That Yamaha has built in a lond time. Pound for pound ran with many bigger CC's and won many times. I made out great with my 99 SRX against bigger sleds and than running the fast trails of the UP and that was a great sled! The SRX was built for the UP trails! I hope My RX1 will be close but don't expect it to handle on rails like the SRX. I ran with many RX1's last year through the trails here in Maine and the standard comment I got was I wouldn't be able to throw my RX1 around this year like I did with the Viper. We raced across the lake and I was surprizing close against them, They were Long Tracked Warriors and I don't think they were running them wide open.
Just my two cents!

WRONG AGAIN RICK. THE VMAX 4 800 WAS THE FASTEST SLED YAMAHA EVER TESTED AT THE AMSNOW SHOOTOUT IN 1995 (105 mph). NOW THE 2001 SRX HAD BETTER E.T. , BUT NOT SPEED. THE RX-1 IS NOT EVEN CLOSE!! FOR STARTERS GO COMPARE THE RACES THE VMAX 4 WON VS THE RX-1. NOT EVEN CLOSE. RX-1 NEVER WON ANYTHING. CALL PAT HAUCK AND ASK HIM HOW THE RX-1 DID AS A RACER VS THE VMAX 4. AND REMEMBER HIS QUESTION. '' A RACE ''. NOT TRAIL, NOT MOTOR, NOT BUILT BETTER, 3:16 (yammie tony)

From what i have seen rideing and raceing on ice with RX1 s with picks of course is there is no race!A apex is better out of the hole... not as good as a srx but has a good 5 mph on you if you are not up to snuff.

Now, now, the 800 was a far cry from the 750 (stock). I did a radar run with one of the very first 750's (I believe it's now in the Bombardier sled museum)...107 in like 3000ft lol. My dad has a bone stock '95 800...we start it up just to listen to it...it's one of my all time favourite sleds. :)

Believe me, I know how potent they are tuned and in the right hands. Mostly, I'm just stirring the pot alittle because it was so slow at work.

We're actually looking for an V4 improver if you ever see one come up.

hey

If you want a sled that ride's on rails and don't mind a rough ride, a stock srx will beat a stock Rx1 all day long...

Love my SRX untill my back can't take it anymore that's what I'll be driving...bahaha

you canot beat the tripple two stroke engine of the SRX for sound and reliabelity. plus the thing handles like its on rails. I will be racing against the RX1 all winter. I have clutching and gearing done to mine and will be putting the Hacksaw track on it.

Stock for stock, SRX all the way. I told you that above. I was even heavier than about 50-60lbs.

Where does a piped Viper place in this race?
I can kind of answer that. Raced one with filter mods, A/M exhaust and heel clickers on the lake about 50 times last year. Absolutely dead even. I mean you couldn't have a more boring race. Sometimes I'd get a 1/2 ski off the line, but usually it was like we were together with glue. Odd time one would have a very minor advantage over the other, but it went back and forth. We'd run for about a mile each time.

That said, the day we radar'd them he was 4mph faster on bare ice. Was a warm day though and the piped viper wasn't liking the heat. We raced down a road the next week and I took him by a sled length. Always close though.

I'd love to know how I'd do against a stock RX-1 as the filter mod gives a pretty good power boost.
