more travel srx

hmm viper shocks? dependent on if you can get a different manufacturers skid cheap then thats the best route

LOTS of threads on SRXs with different or tweeked skids

well just baught 2000 srx cool ,so just change rear shocks to viper rear shocks oh and does anyone have ohlins piggy back shocks for front of srx

thanks dave :winterrul

Adding Viper shocks usually requires adding longer limiter straps as well. Also there may be some issues with the transfer rods, someone will chime in on this.
When adding travel to the rear of the sled, you may want to add longer front shocks or flip your shock mount brackets so that you can off-set the hieght differnece. This will help give the correct ski pressure you need.

Viper shocks require longer limiter straps and change the transfer rod spacers to the Viper spacers. To use the Viper shocks up front order up the eylet shock mount for a Viper and remove the srx mount and they will bolt right in. Makes a big difference in the ride.

Stein, what exactly is the eylet shock mount? Is it part of the shock or are you talking about a bolt on mount to the chasis?

The eyelet bushing is #18. I removed the the shock mounts and used the bushing and bolted straight onto the chasis. This maintianed the the front end height and did not change the ski alignment or camber.
Inside ski lift was increased tho

Find a good used M-10 for the rear. You won't regret it. I'm in the process of installing a wide front end kit with new (to me) front shocks. I want to test run it before I decide if I'll be selling my stock Ohlins. :2strokes:

if you mess with the geometry of the srx you will be sorry... that sled handles like its on rails right now the only downfall is in the moguls! ive never rode a sled that carves corners like the srx...

Yes it does work. Many people have longtracked their srx's an sx's.You will lose abit of flat cornering but gain the ability to soak up more of the bumps.
You may also lose some top speed.

True......my SX does not handle like it used to, but a properly set-up M-10 with correct amount of sag does not affect the handling as much as you would think. IMO the benefits of the improved ride are well worth any handling losses.

The SRX(at least my 98 ) doesnt have the same bulkhead as a SX or Viper.
It has a bracket mounted on the side of the bulkhead where the shock mounts.See parts 19-20
Some guys have done some creative fabbing to attach the shock( I wont even go into how I did it , It involves cutting and welding on the shock :o| ) including making a bushing to fit in the shock mount bracket. But you would have to do a search to find out the details.

The first route I went was to long travel the rear of srx700 with a set ohlins from pioneer perf. becasue I was very impressed with the ohlins I have up front, but was still unhappy with the ride thru the rough areas.
Then I did the best upgrade I feel you can do to the SRX for ride comfort...a M10. NO comparison in ride, Love it for trail riding now. I picked up a used m10 off ebay with ohlin clickers in the rear for $500. Also bought a set of drop down brakets for the front shocks and the ohlin shock shaft ext. for the front for more drop down travel.

I did the long travel mod to my SX700 and thru the ohlins in the rear of that with viper front shocks and use that as my loaner/girlfriends sled.
