clutch is noisy or rattles at low rpms and when it is pulled over, but I can't keep raising the rpms to make it go away. I have had the rollers checked and they are good. They are not causing the noise. This is what I did to make the noise go away. I used a pully puller on the outside of the clutch just to snug it up. I pulled it over and the noise goes away. I'm guessing that I have to much play somewhere. Has anybody replaced the bushings on the clutch shaft and if so how difficult to do and do you think this will fix my rattling issue. I know the inside has to unscrew from the shaft to get it apart. are there special tools for this? This has been getting worse through out each winter. I need ot fix it before the season.

Sounds like the cover bushing. Might as rebuild it. New bushings and slide shoes. And yes you need tools to disassemble.

its called a grunt tool and i have seen them successfully made using a jig to hold the clutch and a long bar with welded teeth to turn the moveable sheeve. other wise any dealer should be able to split it for you.

I also have the same problem. I have rebuilt the primary with these new parts
& it still rattles or makes noises. I have 5,500 miles on clutch(not driven hard)

All new metal bushings.
All new washer plates(12 nylon spacers)
All 3 new weight comp ul's.
New primary spring.

What is Yamaha fix for this.

the rattle you are talking about is caused by excessive clearence between the spider and movable sheve. replace the 6 plastic sliders on the spider and the rattle should be gone. and you will need the special tool to replace them.

Forgot to mention that I also replaced those 6 plastic slidders.
Again, what is yamaha fix for this. I read some where that they had a fix for
this rattle.

when the new parts come in I'll let you know what I find out. It drives me crazy to hear the noise. Trueblue Keep looking for the fix you had read somewhere could save me the headache of figuring it out myself.

Yamaha clutch rattle fix

Here is what I found out about the clutch rattle fix. P/N 8ES SLIDDER KT-OO
In the kit you are suppose to get 6 new plastic pads(different than original)
& 6 rubber o-rings which are placed behind the 6 plastic pads in the spider.

where can I get the kit from? I've gone on line and can't seem to find it or do I need to call a dealer direct.

Clutch fix

Call the dealer & give him that part No.
This is a warranty issue in my case so check it out before you pay for this kit.

Has Anyone purchased this kit? I have found out that the actual part # is 8ES SLIDR KT-00 and c osts around 12-13 dollars. After looking at the prices of the slidders, this kit is to cheap to include them. That is what your describing as pads? I have this problem myself and I'm in the process of ordering parts. Thanks

Clutch Kit #8ES-Slidr-Kit-00

I found a dealer who has the slider kit in Grands Rapids Mn They have 10 of them left. The correct Part # is#8ES-Slidr-Kit-00 and it is 13.80 + 3.00 shipping USPS.The other dealers all showed the part to be back ordered. They didn't know when they could get one. Hope this helps you.

Thats basically the same info I just gave in my earlier post. What I want to know is what is actually in this kit. Thanks, SOC

Thanks JJ, couldn't get much info out of the dealer up here. Had the service guy listen to it a while back, he told me it wasn't any big deal, just a noisey clutch. Yeah right. It runs fine, just sounds like crap.soc

My dealer called me today to tell me that my clutch kit came in. i asked him what was in the kit & he said 3 o-rings & 3 plastic slidders.

Now I'm really confused about this kit, where do they go? 3 of each? But the spider takes six sliders, which are somewhere around 4 and a half bucks a piece. That alone is 27 bucks I was told this kit is 12-13.00. Are two kits needed per clutch? Thanks for the info TrueBlue, Soc
