yeah i think after 1000 feet the triples will shine..the F7 is a hard sled to beat,it has more to do with its chassis then its motorblueblooded said:Thats pretty good!!!My 98 mach z ran 101 in 1000' and 124 in 2000'.
Stray as for porting the SRX, Look into Iantomasi. Top of the line work, with great customer service.
cool man,i've seen his work before..thought he only did DOO's though..lol98700 said:Stray as for porting the SRX, Look into Iantomasi. Top of the line work, with great customer service.
Nope, Flav and Gerry do great work with mach Z's, But Flav has an srx. They started out racing on yamaha's. They know Yamaha's just as well if not better than they do doo's.

StrayCat said:we run mostly 660-1000foot drags,my ported F7 used to kill the Machs in this distance.who does the best porting on the SRX's? I've also found a 03 Viper thats is in excellent shape, can these be made to run as good as a SRX?
I am not surprised. A ported F7 makes more torque than an 800 Mach Z, and probably close to the same hp. It also weighs a hell of alot less. Weight alone has ALOT to do with acceleration.
Sure, the vipers can be built to run like an SRX, but it will cost you more money because you have to buy exhaust pipe, and they seem to be terrible on fuel when modified, compared to an SRX.
As for porting, Iantomasi is one of the best, for sure. For about $1000 Cdn., you will get your cylinders ported, and your heads cut and re-shaped.

Mr.Fuller at Full power performance also does some excellent porting work.

My F7 was running a Race box as well..it was probley putting out close to 160hp. are the vipers dependable if you put Triple pipes on them? im thinking im probley better off with the SRXvalin said:I am not surprised. depends if they are both bone stock or not, when your talking stock to stock it always comes down to the tuner, no matter if its a thundercat to a srx or whatever.
The thing with ski doo 800(809 engines) is they have massive port area stock, a guy can swap out a base gasket, machine the heads, bolt a set of pipes on and be 200hp!
You cant make a yamaha cylinder have as much port area, youd grind clear thru the casting. You can get close to 200hp in a full race prepared 700 cc yamaha but it will take 3 times more $$$$$$$ but it is a 700 and not a 800 after all.

I Would have to agree, after watching the SRX's at the grass drags this fall i was empressed with how they worked with stock pipes, they ran in the improved class with piped Mach Z's and won...a good tuner goes along waymrviper700 said:depends if they are both bone stock or not, when your talking stock to stock it always comes down to the tuner, no matter if its a thundercat to a srx or whatever.

HERE IN NY ON THE LAKES, GRASS DRAGS , AND TAR, THE 800 SKIDOO MACH,s DOMINATE. NOW I AM NOT TALKING LINEING UP ON A SATURDAY STOCK FOR STOCK, IAM TALKING BIG HITTERS WITH PRO STOCK MACH,s. NO PRO STOCK F-7 IS GONNA RUN WITH THEM. SEEN IT THOUSAND TIMES. AND IF YA DOUBT ME LOOK UP THIS GUY NAME AT COSDRA. GRAM COOMS WITH A 800 SKIDOO MACH RUNNING 4.80,s, AND ITS A 800. NOW THE QUESTION WAS STOCK VS STOCK. LETS NOT RUN AWAY WITH PORTED MOTORS HERE BECAUSE THATS A HOLE DEFFERENT QUESTION. 3:16 (yammie tony)
a pro stock F7 has 180HP max..800 Doo's 235-240hp..of course its not gonna be a race..but line up a Stock SRX,F7 and Mach and see what happens,it'll come down to clutching..The Doo's in Pro Stock Form are very hard to beat.

Any well tuned STOCK SRX can fly. Maybe this will help with your decision. Go to www.youtube.com and type SRX BLUE CREW RACING. This is a completely stock motored 700. My closest competition was an F7 who ran 125.6mph. We are shooting for 130mph this season. Enjoy.YAMMIEGOD3:16 said:LINE UP A STOCK F-7 AGAINST A MACH Z AND A SRX AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS !!!!!!!!!!! OK.
