compression

sure any time you compress air, it creates heat. So a higher compression ratio will build heat faster in an engine.
 
nothing new just try to figure if its because i run to mutch compression i need to run the engine so ritch so it woudnt burn ... i will take out some compression
 
already did that ..just try to figure if i got to mutch compression if it will result in heat problem .so to correct the heat problem i got no choice to run very ritch...i search if it could be the reason why i need to run so ritch

MOD , you know your melting pistons on the exhaust side because your running to much compression 0.050 squish clearence on 8df heads on a 700 is 150lbs , my 600 has 0.050 squish and i have 128 lbs !!!!!!! you should consider cutting your dome angles wich will alternatively give your more cc chamber and also increase your fuel quality like mopar suggested " i already suggested that " your 160 jets are just a band aid ..... you got to pay to play!!!!!!!!!!!
 
yes this is what i try to figure if its the problem i got ... i think i got no choice to run those jet to cool down the piston because of the high compression so it wont melt... but running those jet i'm pretty sure i lost performance just trying to cool down piston... i know went u port a motor it give more air so need to jet for it .pilot and mid .. but i was not sure if compression vs heat was a issue

There is nothing wrong with running more compression, it makes more power, but the key is using the correct fuel. Octane is fuels ability to NOT burn. In a perfect world youd make the absolute biggest hp on 87 octane but you cant keep the engine from having detonation, so the octane must be incresed to the point it sustains detonation but doesnt hamper the engines power making ability. Some of the things too much octane will do is make the motor RICHER with the same jet size, and low on rpm. :wel:

In pro stock and improver engines I run 180-210lbs of compression, lake race engines can run 150-160lbs, trail engines 145lbs. Its all in the head set up and the balance of matching the correct fuel to the engines needs.

modsrx, are you trying to run stock 600 srx heads on your 700? if so, then i was misunderstanding you, in your pm's. i thought you had your 600 heads machined to work on your 700 and you were still having piston melting issues.
 
they are 600 srx with dome shaved to increase cc with .050 squish

What's your squish angle? Stock 600cc angle? Band width? What cc? What's your compression?
