I have an '02 Viper that the head gasket leaked and washed one of the cylinders. To make a long story short, I found a used '98 SRX 700 crank assembly. The part numbers are different. My question is what is different between the two and will it work in my Viper crankcase?

don't use it. srx cranks have different counter weights, and the local crank guy told me guys were trying srx cranks in their vipers and vice versa and then saying they never had their engine run soo poor. i would run a viper crank in a viper and srx crank in a srx.
sorry but that information right there is load of BS!
the 98-99 srx crank uses a 2 pc crank bearing on the pto end.The viper has a 1pc design the same as he srx cranks from 2000-02
the 2000-02 srx crank will drop into a viper case , they have been tested before on a engine dyno when building a improved engine and they dont make any power differance between the 2 cranks. The viper crank is slightly lighter but the srx cranks pack the case better, but its not measurable differance between the 2, so the answer is yes, you can use a srx crank in a viper and vice versa as long as its the same pto bearing equipped crankshaft.

sorry mrviper, i was just stating what i heard, from the local crank guy that does warranty work for yamaha....said that in the previous post. i would assume the guy doing warranty work for yamaha, wouldn't be running me a line of b.s.
