I'm new to working on snowmobile engines and am looking for suggestions for what works well to remove carbon build-up from the exhaust manifold and the exhaust ports on my sled. Also, what do you guys usually use for gasket sealant? Is there anything special I should use for the cold weather?

Try paint stripper,you can get it in a spray can,i use that on my power valves cuts it good...
as far as gasket sealant not usually....on occasion you can use a copper tack spray if you going to reuse a base gasket or certain head gaskets..

Go to your local Evinrude outboard dealer and buy a can of "engine tuner". This product if engineered specifically to remove carbon deposits and buildup. I have used this for over 30 years. It also removes varnish build up in the carbs and jets. Much better than any carb cleaner at your local parts store.

you can use permatex gasket remover. i'm sure there are better things out there, but this stuff is better than nothing.
You have the correct Engine Tuner, the particular version you see pictured in previous posting is for attaching to a schrader valve on the intake system, you can also buy a version which has a standard spray nozzle. Again great stuff, and also specifiacally engineered to remove carbon.
