Hello all, i have a question. I am going to install 40-10 heelclickers in my 98 srx, I was wondering what your experiences are with gearing, I think i read somewhere that heelclickers dont like low gearing, they work better with stock gearing? Just wondering if this was true or not? I am running 21/40 gearing with 8BU weights right now,and it runs pretty good in 660 foot drags. I want to try the heelclickers but need to know if i should go back to stock gearing or stay with 21/40 or not. Thanks in advance for any help.

STICK WITH 21-40 FOR 660 WITH H/C. THAN TRY THIS TO COMPARE, GO BACK TO 8BU WEIGHTS AND GO TO A 39 BOTTOM GEAR. HANG ON . 3:16 (yammie tony)

thx ill give it a try, I bet ill end up going back to the 8BU setup, but we'll see. I got the HC for free so i figured i would give them a try, buddy couldnt get them to work, but he is a little on the green side. well thanks for the reply tony, your always so wiilling to help, just as alot of guys are on this site, great bunch on this site. Thanks

PS. Any other input? anyone?

you still have to gear for the distance, so your gearing will be fine in 660ft. The h/c are FASTER then 8bu weights, its just that some people dont spend the time too tune them or use the wrong helix, secondary spring with them.

Tony, you simply didnt use the right helix, I saw in your post what you were using and you didnt have enuff finish angle in it for short distance, you were trying to use a shallow finish angle and were not loading the motor enough in 500ft. If your running SHORT distance you wouldnt go lower on the finish angle, youd keep it up into the mid 40's. The tuning tips I give in the FAQ are not drag racing 500-660ft set ups, they are trail set ups, theres a big differance.
When you got the set ups from Allen and me you were given the helix angles but you used a difffernt one. A bigger guy like yourself will have more suspension tuning to do along with clutch set up with h/c's if you want to see the gains. A 8bu weight is fine for backyard type races and perform well, but if your looking for the fastest set up it will be h/c's in a short race, sorry, I know youll argue but its the facts.

DON, I TRYED EVERY HELIX ANGLED THAT WAS SUGESTED TO ME BY YOU, ALLEN AND MIKE. !! I ALSO EMAIL MIKE MANY TIMES ON SUGESTIONS. EXAMPLE 50-40, 51-38, 51-39, 50 - 37 AND YES ALLENS ORIGINAL SET-UP IN HIS NOTE 48-40 ADVENT. THE H/C WERE BRUTAL ON THE ICE, BUT YOUR WRONG, 8BU FASTER ON GRASS, AND DON, I TESTED JUST AS MUCH AS YOU !!!!!! AND THERE WERE NO MORE EXCUSES WITH THIS SLED, I SPENT ALL FALL GETTING SKID FRAME RIGHT. THERE IS NO ARGURMENT HERE AT ALL AND I APPRECIATE YOU GIVING ME INFO ON THEM, BUT DON YOUR WRONG ABOUT THE TESTING I HAVE DONE WITH THIS SLED. I HAVE TRYED IT ALL. ITS FINALLY PAYING OFF AND ITS WITH MY 8BU,s. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Thats ok Tony, you didnt hurt my feelings...LOL. Like I said, the 8bu is a great throw in clutch weight, and youll be able to get around 5.7 e.t's in 500ft on grass which is plenty fast for backyard events, but when you want everything a stock srx can give you and be in the 5.4's-5.5's or better yet in the finals at haydays, it will be with h/c's.

Race on!!!!!! ;)!

50/40 is a good start but like I said, if you have a strong engine, you go up slightly in your finish angle, lower to mid 40's, to load the engine because its such a short run, you have to laod thru front and rear clutch. the helix Allen used for 2nd place at haydays was a 45/41 adavtedge. The helix I used for the 700cc and 800cc championship was a 50/44. same helix used when we went to haydays and were the last srx in the country in the finals. Those advantage helix are a little more aggressive then the numbers stamped. So if you didnt use the advantedge helix theres a big differance right there, just a little food for thought.

Every sled is different! I'm glad you two settled that reasonably! Straycat would have still been arguing, LOL!

DON, NOW YOU AND I KNOW THERE NEVER EVER BEEN A STOCK SRX THATS RUN A 5.4. lol. AND JUST SO YA KNOW. I HAD ALLENS EXACT SET-UP HE USED AT HEYDAYS RIGHT IN THIS SRX. GUY IN CANADA WHO NAME IS ANDRE SHIPED IT TO ME TO USE AFTER HE BOUGHT IT FROM ULMER RACING AND STRUGGLED WITH IT IN HIS SRX. SAME WEIGHTS, ADVENT HELIX, RED SPRING, WEIGHTS NOTCHED FOR ENGAGEMENT, AND ALL OF ALLENS NOTES TOO BOOT. NAW, I NEVER TESTED THIS SLED. rotflmao. 8bu still were faster. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Thats what I like about you Tony, your head is so hard and stubborn you are blinded by it, even when you are proven wrong by the E.T.results from the worlds biggest grass drag race, (I forgot, you know better) ...lol:homework: Go back and look up the times. And to boot all this coming from someone(YOU) who has never been to haydays racing. Allen lied, I lied, we really just used 8bu's!!!!!!!

Good luck running your 5.7et's...( have ya even ran a 5.7 et with 8bu's yet?)

My last comment, because its always pointless trying to convince you could possibly be mistaken :o| . Good Luck with your sled.

Sure do...... Believe me it's not about the post counts. And this arguement is helping people? I think NOT! Hypocrite!

It sure does seem that way. Everyone knows nothing, According to some!

yep, some people think that they are the "king" or "god" of this stuff (not saying names), while the rest of us that aren't so "big named" (still not saying names), but still know quite a bit, are just pee-ons. if one doesn't agree or go alone w/what the "big wigs" say, then all hell breaks loose. that situation with this website is getting old real quick.

HELL I HAVE GOTTEN MORE INFO READING POSTS HERE THAN I CAN SHAKE A STICK. SO IF THERE IS ANOTHER GOD HERE, WHO IS IT. !!! WHEN ITS ALL SAID AND DONE MOPAR1RULES YOU TRY THINGS ON YOUR OWN. AND I KNOW YOUR REFERING TO ME AS '' GOD '' STUFF AND THATS FINE. I MYSELF IS GONNA RUN WHAT I LIKED THE BEST, IN THIS CASE THE 8BU WEIGHTS. OTHERS LOVE H/C THATS GREAT. THEIR A AWSOME WEIGHT. I LIKE 8BU. GUESS I WANT TO GO SLOW. lol 3:16 (yammie tony)
