It took me half a day to get my Viper up and running this weekend.

At the end of the season I put in the right amount of stabilizer in the fuel tank and ran my sled dry. (until it ran itself out of fuel).

This weekend I put in fresh high octane gas and pulled and pulled and pulled...
I ended up pouring gas in the jugs about 8 separate times until finally it stayed running. taking the plugs caps off, and removing and replacing three plugs is a PITA!

I am guessing that it took this long for the fuel pump to prime and deliver gas to the carbs. Has anyone else had to do this as well?

Needless to say, I will never run the Viper dry again. I'm just going to stabilize good quality gas and leave it in the tank.

i dont run them dry as it tends to dry up the fuel pumps. hopefully your diaphragms get soft again and respond well to impulses and holds pressure again

Sorry about your luck...
I ad 1 Oz of seafoam to the oil tank (every time ad 1 full qt) & 1 Oz to the fuel tank (fuel every two tanks) stored my sled with stabilizer in the tank...NO ISSUES at start up...none whatsoever...fired right up...ran to engine temp, pulled P.V. all that was needed was a wipe...REALLY A WIPE DOWN...then pulled the carbs, bowls bright clean, but did the usual run through just to be safe...runs & purrs like, WELL LIKE A SWEET TRIPPLE SHOULD...

All I do is put Stabil in the gas and fogging oil through the carbs until the engine dies, then take the plugs out and squirt fogging oil into the cyclinders. Never ever have problems.

You can cheat with slight air pressure in the vent hose (attaches to the steering gate above the left footwell). Don't put too much pressure on it as it can blow the fuel outlet apart at the top of the tank, or puch fuel past the needle valve in the carbs. I loosen the gas cap. so I can tell how much pressure is in there (it will leak air). You can prime the fuel pump, and fill the bowls in no time this way. Just a few pulls and it should start right up. A lot of the raw fuel put down the spark plug hole ends up in the exhaust pipe where it will burn or get pushed out at some point. I prefer using starting fluid into the carbs.

I never run 'em dry either, stabil, fogg, hit the kill, then come winter few oz's of pre mix in each hole and she's running(yes may have to do it 2-3 times)

Great, thanks guys. I really don't know why I was letting my Viper run dry... I'll just use good gas and stabil... I'll have no problems starting it then.
That air in the vent line would have been a good idea as well, but I didn't have a compressor on hand.
AHh well, she's up and running, and I claned the powervalves before I put it away last year. I wonder if I'll be able to tell the difference... All three were stuck, but no pull thoughs! (luckily)

Sounds like ya did your homework and she's ready to go,good for you.

your running interceptor this year correct???

Yep, was running the Interceptor for the last half of last year, and I run nothing but that since then. I'll have to see how the PV's look after this year. I couldn't have cleaned and adjusted those PV's if I hadn't been a member of this site. Very useful tech section, and the posts from the guys on here made me know I could get it done.
Special thanks to you especially Daman.

its like 39 a gallon says the website.

Daman, thanks also. Big help with my Power Valves i did yesterday. It was very easy once i got down to doing it.

NP,,glad i could help...

@SNOW700,

you should be able to find it cheaper from a member or somthing like that on line....a sled forum.
