i'm gunna run slydog race skis this winter. they looks like a really good design. i've had them on previous edge sleds along with C&A, and the slydogs were much better IMO

Can you elaborate what you do with simmons skis?I have noticed how some carbides are centered under the spindle and some trail behind it some, curious?BETHEVIPER said:Arrow skis if you dont need more flotation, they are stock width. ive tried about a dozen different skis and they handle the best, steer easy, 0 darting in all conditions. my second place ski is the simmons with skidoo carbides centered on pivot.
most any ski will be better than a stock 02 viper ski, they are fast and that is all they are, even the viper s style ski is a great upgrade.
if you do a search on my name and skis on the 4 stroke side, i give some reviews of skis i have tried.

Not to hijack...but I would like to know as well how to use the Doo carbides on Simmons skis. I have older Simmons (circa 2002/2003) and they steer heavy and dart on hardpack and ice. They are especially bad on freshly groomed trails that have had time to set up, takes the fun out groomed trails.....
I have 6" carbides in the inner position, and 4" in the outer (we ride a lot of ice in Michigan). I have checked and reset the tow-in several times, and have my front strap on my M10 out to lighten the front. They still want to dart on ice.....do I have too much carbide?
I almost bought Doo Pilots ($160/pair with handles) at the Novi SnoMo show this year, and now wish I had......

I think you should be able to get them working good, and that carbide setup is not too much as far as I'm concerned.Have you put 1/4" shims under the back of your ski rubbers, this can make a huge difference.I have a 136" m-10 and have shortened my limiter and still little to no darting.

Swede - Yea, i'm stumped. I have 4.5mm shims under the rubbers, and on pavement the front of the carbides are up about 1/8" with the sled empty. I looked carefully, and nothing in the front seems bent or out of line.....
Simmons are known to be good solutions to darting. The skis are great in loose snow, and good in deep powder. But, I haven't been able to solve the darting. One buddy said I was being a p*ssy when I complained, so I let him ride it for about an hour and he said the machine borderline dangerous. He rides a 2001 SxR 600 (same chassis right?) with original Yammi skis and his never darts. I even pulled the skid, and made sure my M10 install was straight and true....
This winter we're going to swap skis for an afternnoon to see if still mine darts with his Yammi skis....
Note: I bought the sled with the Simmmons on, so not sure how it steered with the original Yammi skis. It did dart with the original No-action skid as well.

Thats strange with them being that way as mine are great with a very similar setup in fact I haven't checked my toe in years.I traded these skis with a co-worker who had 'em on a '03 Rx-1 and he hated them and said the sled was hard to ride and he tried to dial it in too.The viper is a little heavier than the sx-r up front from what I understand.
