Speaking of viper shocks, I'm getting ready to update my 01 SRX with the same thing, but the shocks I have do not have a load on the coil. They came with the lock nuts loose, how tight do I make the coil? Hope this makes sense... Thx

Its all personal prefrence really. It depends on your wieght, how you want it to ride and stuff like that. The looser you leave them (not threaded up as far - not actually "loose") the softer/squishier it will ride. the more you tighten them up the stiffer it will ride. like I said before, it all depends on your weight and how you want the sled to behave. Hope that helps, thats how i've always understood it. Im sure somebody on here will chime in with better detail.....

Thanks. I thought I could go off of a stock(off a viper) setting maybe by measuring the distance of the treads to the lock nut to get a base line. Or, just measuring the stock distance on the srx shocks? Thanks for the input.

I am actually in the middle of doing the same thing to my SRX, putting vipers in the rear. I was just gonna start out the same way I've done it on a few of my bikes in the past. I just roughly eyeballed it in the middle and if it was too soft I'd tighten it and if it was too stiff I'd loosen in - you get the picture. Its not the most scientific way to do it but after a couple of hours of screwin around I had it where I wanted it

nice pic im have problem with rear of track off ground not sure ,whats your set up
here is an oldy but a goody
this was back in the day when you couldnt get viper shocks for cheap so this sled was built on xt based shocks. i originaly had olins on the front and rear but the setup in this picture is when i had it for sale.
i learned alot on this sled, wish i could build it all over again from the start
