does anybody know what weight the stock shock oil is on the front and rear shocks of a viper? is it 3wt or 5wt? i want to freshen up my shocks, but just need to know what comes in them stock. i'm thinking 3wt?

"I think" I read somewhere you can use 15w-40 in the shocks, "Im pretty sure but not a 100%".........This is an example of the type of answer your giving other members on other topics.

NOTE: OTHER MEMBERS <<<<<PLEASE DO NOT USE 15w-40 OIL IN YOUR SHOCKS>>>>>

Good Luck getting the answer your looking for!!!!!!Im off to the UP for some whitetail hunting, so bicker all you want so I have something to laugh at when I return. Happy Turkey Day

well your smart *** post in better than no info. sadly enough, a guy could probably use 15w-40 and have the shocks work. just like guys using trans fluid for chaincase oil or even engine oil.

i know alot of the ski-doo revs come w/3wt. i am running 5 wt now in my ski-doo rev. i didn't know what yamaha puts in their vipers stock. i wanted to run heavier oil in my rev, cause that's the ditch banger etc. my viper just stays on the trails, so that one i'll put the factory weight in....what ever it is.

Really, how much of a difference is there between 3 and 5 wt.? Not enough for me to notice in when switching on my motocross suspension on my dirtybike.

I would just pick either 3 or 5 wt, what ever is in stock, and use the same weight in all the shocks.

Somebody please shoot me down if im drastically wrong here.

i have a little bit (not enough to do 1 shock evne) of 5wt remaining from when i did my ski-doo shocks, but if yamaha uses 3 wt, i wouldn't mind to just use that. or i could buy more 5wt, cause like you said, are you really going to notice the difference?

anybody run heavier wt shock oil in their vipers? how was results?

Sorry to stray off topic but dirtjumper, i noticed you ride in the houghton/hancock area. are you a strict trail guy or do you like to run the back country? I'd love to find some more play spots up in that area.

Lol, sorry if i hijack this topic aswell, but whats another bumP?

Right now i'm setup for boondocking...If you ever make it up this way, let me know. I am plannin on being at the TY Houghton ride here in a month or so....

Cool man, i'll have to try and shoot you a PM sometime this winter, we ride that area a couple times a year. Usually stay up in Calumet

dirtjumper, just make sure you have a good toe rope, cause oz's p-tek rev will be blowing up on you in the back country:) you will have to play wrecker.

what do you think of that craig....lol :)

is taylor still planning on working on his pos tonight?

hahaha. its not the first p-tek that i have seen go kaput then. Calumet isn't too far from my house, and i usually will ride north of houghton anyways...

LOL, I should be ok now, but i do have a tow rope in the seat just in case, haha, Your spreading hear say Mopar, it only blows up on rail beds and logging roads, not the back country, lol. I wish a guy could figure out how to drop a SRX engine in the REV chasis, that would be too sweet. Mopar, I bet your REV 600 HO will be goin down this year once you finish porting it!, haha, jk, jk. Yea we usually head south from Calumet but it would be cool to explore the northern part of the pinnensula also, terrains alot more drastic up there, correct?

my 600ho ran dead even w/your 800 last year. i'm 200cc less! now w/my new clutch setup and ported cylinders, thinner base gasket, you should be seeing my tailight...lol. i wanna play around by that big hill, just north of south range. dirtjumper, you ever play there before?

Thats cause we wern't getting traction on that rail bed with the crappy ripsaws, it was too icey, with my new track your *** is toast my friend, you know it. plus i put the purple spring in the secondary, and im still geared low with the different drivers, sprockets are stock again.....should be interesting!!
