I dont know about the Mustang, but there is one way an R6 will hit 170 mph....and that is by throwing it out of an airplane.

I was talking about 1/4 mile. Not sure how long it would take for them to catch up on top end or if they could. I've rode in a 2000 Mustang up to 145 MPH before.
Yamidude59 said:^^^ those cars had long legs on top end, your 05 R6 will see an honest 170ish mph on top end.... I bet those stangs, given enough room would run that.... correct me if i'm wrong, not sure if they come governed rediculously lower then their pontential.

Ok so my 929RR has 150HP stock and will break the 170MPH mark and my vmax 800 is 150HP stock, so that means my vmax could break 170MPH???? wishfull thinking for the vmax I thinks!

Shortstop, how in the hell does your R6 not do 170? is it just me or are my buddies better riders then you to get to that point? they are Gps'd at that speed stock, granted they are damn near bouncing it off the rev limiter.
theres alot to be learned about bikes, i'll give ya time to think about it a little more.

I know the liter bikes are governed to 186 mph, unless you bypass it.

The R6 was the first 600cc bike to break 170mph.. Not sure what year R6 it was that did it, but I believe it was a more recent model year, '07 or '08...
As ridiculous as the guys claim in his title is, I give him credit. It is likely pure ignorance on his behalf, but look at the attention he has recieved. I know for a fact that I would never have viewed his ad otherwise. The sad thing is someone will buy that turd.
I was thinking about selling my 200 MPH Ski Doo. Wish me luck!

Blueblooded, my 2000 R1 was not governed from the factory at 186mph (300 km/h).

Although i havent tried hitting top speed yet,my dealer told me my bike has a top speed limiter.I was interested in a power commander III and he told me that my bike was limited to 186 mph,but the power commander would remove the top speed limiter.I've had mine up to 170 and i was still climbing pretty quickly but the turbulance got pretty radical so i let off.Maybe the speed limiter is on the EFI bikes,or maybe my dealer is wrong??

Blueblooded...I heardthe 186mph limit too... Those liter bikes have alot of room for speed if you remove that.... Busas are 1300cc and still go 186 stock, thats the max speed on every newer liter bike...Its plenty fast for me imo...Your R1 is EFI'd right?
Yea i can imagine the EFI bikes only can have something electronically control the engine, the carbed bikes you could ride till it hit the rev limiter but then you ran out of gears and eventually topped out bouncing the rev limiter.

Yea,mine is EFI.I think they went to EFI in 2003.I agree,186 mph is fast enough.Unless i can get on an old airplane landing sometime i'll never hit top speed anyway.

Sounds great,im always up for a ride.We trailered down to North Carolina and road to Daytona bike week last year.We spent a couple days in Daytona then rode all the way down to Key West, over to Sarasota then back up to North Caroilina. We put on over 2000 miles in a week, but boy was my *** sore.I love my bike but after a few days on it i found myself wanting to ride my buddies fat boy with the highway bars instead.lol

Let me clear a few things up for some of you
1. A 2005 R6 will not go 170. There is 5-7% error in the speedometer.
2. It does not take a "good rider" to go fast in a straight line, unless your drag racing. Anybody can twist the throttle and hold it there.
3.2002 was the first year of fuel injection for the R1.
4.A Powercommander will not remove the speed limiter.
5.Most literbikes if ridden above sea level will run out of power before getting to governed top speed. They are overgeared.

This guy knows his bikes.
I've never heard of any '03-'05 R6 that is for the most part stock hitting 170 MPH GPS. What does going fast have to do with being a good rider? Anybody can tape the throttle wide open and go fast. I don't know as much about bikes as some people here(like cacsrx1) but I know plenty.
