hey guys tell me whats going on with the cranks in vipers i sled with guys that have them not one has went down this ones must be running pipes is all i can figure out any ideas all the ones i see for sale here say rebuilt crank

pretty much detonation, it destroys the rod bearings in short order. I think you see it more in the vipers from the pipes being used and also with the timing curve in the box, which even on a stocker the mag side is running hot all the time, the cooling is "subpar" on a viper even stock. I have fixed alot of srx's also it just depends on how the sled has been used and the conditions it was used in.
I have also seen alot of rusted crank bearing failures from incorrect storage and the moisture gets down into the bearings from being stored all summer in an enclosed trailer, the engine "sweats'. More vipers were sold then srx's also,it was the most popular sled. all in all the rattling/detonation simply transmits to the bearings, and they dont like it....lol
