I have a 2001 SRX and I am looking for the pro's and con's of putting an after market can/silencer on it.
Anyone have a can/silencer they would recommend? Something no to loud but sounds good?
Thanks!!

I put a Bender can on my 2000 SRX. From what I have read, this can does not cause you to lose power. I like to sound of the sled with the can. It is louder by not offensively loud in my opinion, others will have a different opinion. The bender can is getting hard to find. I just bought a rusty one from a TY member. I am going to grit blast it and have it ceramic coated. In my opinion i would only use a Bender can on my SRX's. Good luck. BTW, if you do get an aftermarket can, don't get rid of your stock silencer. They are even harder to find should you want to switch back!!!

this subject has been brought up alot, its all personal preference, there are people on here that are lookin out for ya and tellin you the truth about cans, etc. most cans will loose hp and top end, there are a few like the power Inc. can that will gain a tid bit, but you save weight too... but if all your going for is weight loss and sound gain and don't care about the 2-4hp loss (with most cans, which isn't highly noticable) then get a can.

Thanks Guys!!!
Use the stock can and invest the money in clutching//portwork. Its more bang for the buck when you lose power over an aftermarket can.
A louder sled does not mean its a faster sled.

Thanks Tom!
I am doing it that too but just wanted to see what people thought about their aftermarket cans.
I hoping to do some cluching work this year and I am installing 96 studs, extra wheel and re-jeting the carb. A guy off this sits is doing a lot of the work for me as I am still learning how to set up my sled.
Thanks again for the advice!!

I run a Bender can. I find the stock exhaust sounds like a sewing machine. They don't make any power though, but they do sound good.

i was @ the shop ( bender's ) on wed.. justin fuller stopped in ( he now owns full power performance ). justin was shop foreman for bender's for many years. both he & terry paine designed & built the srx can. we had a discussion about the can topic. he said they made hundreds of dyno passes before finalizing the can for production. final #'s were +4-5 h.p. mid range & + 3 top end. bender still sells them.

Hey Ryan,
Is the bender can on your race sled or your trail sled or both?
You know anyone that is selling a bender can?

Dont want to sound like the trail police but you can get a ticket for the can and it is getting stricter every year.

The bender can is only on the trail sled. The race sled runs Jaws Pro 1000 pipes and stingers.

I have heard that the trail police are starting to crack down on that! Anyone you know ever got stoped and tested for that??
Well I will have to hear your trail sled Ryan before I make my decision.

anything that is not stock in wisconsin is just asking for a ticket, granted you come across a warden that does know the difference between stock sounding and aftermarket.... My buddy got stopped and his sled blew a 91 and the legal limit is 88, and he has the bender can. they said nothing about a ticket, but then 2 weeks later got a 160.00 dollar ticket in the mail... since he bought the sled with the can on it, the dealer agreed to pay the fine in court and they found him a stock can for his srx free of charge. so hes running the stock one now.

I was stopped before and got a ticket with my old 2001 XCR800 with HTG pipes and an MBRP silencer. It was damn loud though. I have never been hassled with the SRX, and I have always ran a Bender canister. It is illegal though, not only for the fact that it is louder, but the law in Ontario actually states that you are not allowed to modify a snowmobile in any way or form from it's origional state. So, really, by the way the law is written, if you change the windshield it is illegal. It's all BS.

i think the windshield thing is bs, are you sure that it is "in any way"??? i can understand a can, but any other means of modifying while not harming the enviroment should be perfectly legal... I guess i'm screwed having a low pro windy and a windshield decal. and my billet gas cap is just asking for a ticket... lmao!

i Know you are not aloud to change or modify your exhaust system with aftermarket parts. i did not know about your whole snowmobile.

I agree with them making power. My buddy has one on his 99srx.He hasn't done anything else to it.It now spins at around 9000 rpms.Yes i have told him to clutch it,thats too high. But,doesn't this mean it's making more power? They also sound so awesome.I have one on my sxr.Looking for one for my srx.bufalobob said:i was @ the shop ( bender's ) on wed.. justin fuller stopped in ( he now owns full power performance ). justin was shop foreman for bender's for many years. both he & terry paine designed & built the srx can. we had a discussion about the can topic. he said they made hundreds of dyno passes before finalizing the can for production. final #'s were +4-5 h.p. mid range & + 3 top end. bender still sells them.

The law here in Ontario states "any way or form".
