Well guys I was taking apart the powervalves in my viper and found that one of the allen key bolts is stripped. I bought this sled 2 years ago but never had the valves apart before. Thanks to this site a gained the courage to clean the valves myself for the first time but now I have this problem with the last bolt. How do I remove this stripped allen (hex) bolt. any tips?

Thanks for any info!

depending on wich bolt it is you might be able to get a good set of vise grips on it and lossen it an 1/8 turn. after that it shouldn't be too tight and maybe you can tap the next size allen key into so it fits tight enough to turn it. other than that you can try one of those easy out kits they sell at canadian tire they're square with sharp edges that are supposed to catch but i've never had alot of luck with them. last resort sometimes a sharp chissel and a hammer works if you tap on it sideways to make it turn. hope you get it out.

i would think there would be enough bolt head exposed to grab it with a vise grip plyer ?if not you could use a small chisel and caress it ccw that way.i wouldnt think it would be all that tight.good luck

Sorry for the confusion guys but it is the hex head itself that is stripped not the threads on the bolt. i will try cutting a slot into it with a dremel and try a screwdriver as suggested by TopGunnSrx. Thanks everyone for their thoughts and tips! I'll let you guys know how it turns out. I just hope that cleaning the valves will be easier than getting them out!

I've cut a slot and used a screwdriver on several problem bolts. It has worked every time for me, as long as there's room to cut the slot in it.

try cutting the head off with a dremel cutoff wheel. Remove the other 3 bolts out and remove the housing. With the pressure off the threads, it should turn out easy with vice grips

I GROUND OFF THE BOLT!!! This worked great. I've got some spare parts so I can just replace the bolt now. Thanks for everyones help! NOW wish me luck with cleaning the valves and resetting them. I hope it's not too hard to do!
