hey guys what do you guys think of this combo for my 01 srx 700, 39/22 gears, 8bu-00 weights/ orange silver orange primary spring/ 51/44 helix/ 1.25 ripsaw track. I am looking to try this combination for a weekend trail racer against some buddies

That's a pretty good Trail racing gear, but the poor back shifting of the 8BU-00's are going to hurt. Try an 8DN-20 weight setup for all around good shifting, Back shifting, and Shift curve.

24/40 gears

8DN-20's loaded with 4.5 gram rivets

51/43 helix

green sec. spring @ 70

WWW Primary spring

i am currently running 8DN-20's loaded with 4.5 gram rivets/ 50/44 helix stock gear 38/23, 1.25 ripsaw/ red sec spring/ w-w-w primary. Do you think that the combo i initially posted will be a better drag set up then what i am running now

For what Distance?

i am looking for a combination that i can use for both trail and race. I find that i can afford to push the envelope some more in terms of being more on the racing side than the set up i currently run. the set up i have now is good, but i want more get up and go. i am definately not looking for the long pull radar set ups. just a good hard pulling sled that can be well manered on the trail as well.

See that's were things go wrong. There is no best of both worlds with clutching. What type of riding will you be doing 90% of the time?

Trail riding, Then clutch for trail riding. There will be a HUGE difference in gearing and clutching from a 660' race to corner to corner trail riding! Stick with what you have, the 8DN-20's.

Short racing, Then clutch for short racing. 8BU-00's.
