When I put my top end back together, should I add some oil or anything to the bottom end?

Is it supposed to be dry, or is there oil always in there?

On a 2-stroke I presume . . .

Oil all of the moving parts as you put them together. Most simply use the same 2-stroke oil that will be used for break-in. I use GM assembly lube myself because it sticks to parts so well. Do not dump any oil in the crankcase. This is where your fresh fuel charge goes through when the engine runs. If you oil it you will smoke like crazy for quite a while.

If you washed the crankcase with gas or something, or your bearings have dried out, then it is a good idea to get some oil to the bearings. A oil can with a flex hose can do this. Be sure to bleed the oil lines. There is a supply line going from the pump to the bottom of the crankcase that oils the pump shaft and crank bearings. Be sure this is full of oil, and oil is all the way from the tank to the pump. (Bleed screw is on top of pump)

Assembly/Fogging oil

This is what I use just as Ding prescribes. I always spray some into the lower bearings during assembly as well.

fogging oil is the best way to go, i think... i usally put some right on the cly. when the pistons are in so when i first start it, it wont be dry.. it will smoke like hell and a good sweet smell.. but then it just burns away lol
