i recently removed the clutches on my 98 srx and cleaned them up.i reinstalled them and forgot how many shims were on the jackshaft between the bearing and the clutch?dumb ,i know!any way i think 15 mm offset is what yami calls for.i had a old 10mm alignment tool and used that to see if i was close and its right on 10mm.i drove the sled last night and it felt like it didnt want to backshift when i stopped.could improper off set affect this?i got this sled last year and kinda remember it acting the same way.i forgot to add it has a hauck magnum power shift secondary.any thoughts?

If you removed only the clutches there was no need of removening the washers behind the clutch on the jackshaft but if you did there is usally one.Sounds to me like you did not set the wind on the seconday spring tight enough.Offset causes a sqweel when idleing if out of line.Wrong belt or bad secondary will cause a bad backshift.Lift the hood and look if it does it when you stop.

ok ill check that out, thanks i removed the washer to get a look at the bearing.any idea if 10mm offset will work?

Probably would be fine.Is the bearing bad?I have gone thru 2 on my 98.Pull hard on the clutch back and forth to check.

any idea how the amont of offset changes?i assume the shims behind the secondary must of been removed by the previous owner because there was only 1 on there.anybody have any extras?
