Hey guys my nephew has a 05 f7 diamond drive and he is trying to squeeze some more hp out of that diamond drive so a freind of his told him to invest in a set of boison reed valves sorry if the spelling is incorrect and some sort of air flow control,i told him to install a helix and spring and be happy with what he has,i think myself the only way to gain more hp out of a dd is to pipe it i may be wrong but i think he will not notice a difference with these reeds anyway please correct me if im wrong thanks in advance.

it's fuel injected so most likely the reeds will make almost no difference. Clutch work and a nice pipe set up will get decent results

We try to help everyone out, as long as they aren't here trolling.

At any rate, there has to be some ex or current F7 owners here to point the guy in the right direction.

Maybe just me but I don't think this comment is of much value to anyone.

It is funny though.

I personally call those cats "F bombs". The first year they were out they had a lot of engine failures.

I think a set of boyeson reeds, or equivalent will help in the breathing department, regardless if it is EFI or not.

I say throw a clutch kit on it and be happy with that. They were fast sleds.

Good places to look would be hardcoresledder, snowest and arctichat (sp?)

I hear that just replacing the Y pipe with an after market one makes a 3-4hp difference on the F7's.

Yep! If you want to do some mods do:

Y-pipe and can OR FULL Pipe setup
Porting/Heads
Clutching

The porting really opens up on the F7. And the Y-pipes helps everything breathe well!

Whats a diamond drive? Is it a mod company like speedwerx? Please explain.

Thank you

Diamond Drive is a drive system that eliminates the jackshaft and chaincase. The diamond drive unit is on the left side of the sled and the secondary clutch mounts directly to it on the top side and the drive shaft attaches to the lower end of it. Since there is no jackshaft the brake disk is mounted to the drive shaft on the right side. Diamond drive is only available on Arctic Cats starting in 2004.

f7 is a pretty nice sled - faster than my viper was stock - could stay with him on the lake, but if it was a drag race, i didnt stand a chance. better skid, better ride than anything yamaha has. the d&d y pipe is a quick 3-4 hp.

if you maintain them, they all last.

Listen dws1700 if this is the attitude you are going to have for your fellow members maybee you should go to another site the reason why i asked this question is because there is a ton of talented members on this site and know alot of information on anything mechanical just because it is a yamaha site does not mean the other members are stupid to other brands or is that what you are saying,i dont know if i speak for anyone else but keep the negative comments to yourself please, and it seems today i answered one of your questions with no hesitation and i hope it helped you out with your problem this is why i love this site so much no bashing no insulting and like i said before tons of talented people on here willing to give you advice and help for free so please be a little more polite.

It's easy to bash other brands (and fun at times!) However, this site generally keeps that to a minimum though.

No "alot" they had some issues just like any other company, hell the phazer had problems with running boards, SRX with motors (cranks) at the begining. Dont be so quick to make judgement, skidoo on the other hand......

Furthermore that motor proved to be one of the most potent motors this industry has seen combined with the F chassie.

Head on over to HCS. In the Fcat section and they will steer ya in the right direction, is it a sno pro or? Clutching is his best bet.

They're quite impressive. I Am through the idea of building one for ice drag and trail riding. Weekend warrior! Asphalt to ice!
