Just thought i would ask if there is any special trick to getting new bearings back in idler wheels, before i try this tomorrow............James

Use a socket from a socket wrench and a mallet, ...making sure the socket just fits inside the idler wheel race.
srx-eh, does them the same way I do with a socket

Ok thanks guys, now all i need to do is track down a large enough socket, father in law should have some at the farm shop...........James

or you can simply use the old bearing and a block of wood...
that works too. but here is a simple one. put the new brgs in the freezer for 2-4hrs. should almost go in by hand or with small hammer. easyest way i have seen yet and works really good with older alm wheels.

Thats actually sounds like i great idea, to bad i did them yesterday 
, i did find the outer rear wheel were a little harder to get in but with my trusty mallet they were no match

The freezer trick works really good, as does heating a bearing that will go on a shaft with extremely tight clearances.
I know that just never thought about tossing the bearings into the freezer like a fish stick...LOL
im used to old sleds with alm wheels. you can get em in the other way but that sometimes costs you a wheel. use that trick with pinon brgs at work. freeze the shaft and heat the bearing in oil. slides on 1st shot with no hammer. only trick is put all bearings in wheels 1st and do the wheels you want to install first at beginning. by that time the bearing has warmed up to ambiant temp and will install easyer on the shaft. can save lots of
