Lol, I can see that. I know there are quite a few on here. Deeker, you, A few more to name off the top of my head.

Any advice? I know it's a little early, But I plan to start testing in a little while (Once the ice gets thick).

Roll out......??
Tuck.......??

- Do whatever you can to get out of the wind. Get as low as you can. Wear some nice flashy spandex if you have to.
- Lower your suspension and get it to the ground. Put some time into the chassis so everything lines up perfectly. You want the track to sit FLAT on the ground, with a nice angle.
- Diet.....you or the sled. Weight savings is your best friend for acceleration.
- If you run trail studs, don't hammer it out of the hole, dig a trench, and overshift your clutches.
- If you run long chisels, get rid of them....this isn't a dragrace.
- If you run ice picks, roll into it.

spandex!!! i shave my legs, arms, face, and head! thats 1lb.

clutch. do a serch. thats how i found the keys.

test n tune. thats the main thing. 2000 ft like he said, with trail picks roll in to it, EASY.

ive put on radar run in new brunswick a properly set up sled will not go alot faster in 2000ft compared to 1000ft maybe 4 or 5 mph unless your on a full mod

-I'll be lowering the sled to get about 2" ground clearance.
-Diet, I'm working on it.... Lost 33lbs in the past 6 months not even trying to loose weight.... But The sled.... um yeah that's a different story, lol.
-I can only run Trail Studs in the Trail IS700 class.

I got my clutch and gear setup already. :bling:

drill new holes in your limiter straps 2 inches up from the bottom hole, loosen your front shock of your rear suspension right off, loosen rear shock till about 1 inch left in threads, use old sx sliders, add small wheel kit, loosen ski shocks right off, keep your transfer rods tight so you keep the front end on the ground, tape up holes in cab except the 2 next to the headlight, dull carbides, .75 camo track with 120 studs if on ice. You should run your stock gearing, 23-37 for your 98. you'll gain 5-7 mph with this at least, put wife or girlfriend on sled equalls another 3 mph, lol.

JABBER800- Yes, I sure am.

Deek,

I've read through almost all your past threads/posts. I'm doing everything you listed above. I've spoke with BuffaloBob also. I have a worn out .75" track (.68") and will be running 96 trails studs. Whats the deal with the SX sliders??? I'm assuming they're not as thick as SRX sliders???
Also I noticed Bob told you 2 years ago to remove the thermostat? Why is that? I've always removed them in my drag cars.

I've never removed the thermostat so I can't help you there, but I assume its so the motor runs cooler, the sx sliders are thinner than the srx sliders...Buffalobob helped me a few years back also, he has alot of valuable info as well, valin, gmcsrx, and blue4u can make the srxs go as well. Spend alot of time on setting up your suspension, theres alot to gain there..

Lise & Dan,
Would you guys care to toss some advice to me. I've been following your posts and threads also. You two have a sweet record with that stock sled.

Deeker,

You say I'll gain 5-7 MPH at least, but what are you comparing it to? I have the stock 23/37 in there now. Were you comparing this to another gear setup, or are you saying it will gain 5-7 MPH over what the theoretical speed (112 at 1:1)????

From a stock set up, trail height sled, if you do all that you'll gain 5-7 mph, I used to go faster when I was geared up one tooth up top, tried everything, some guys will tell you different but thats what worked for me...
