Im thinking of making some carbon fiber reed pedals for v-force reeds.

After studing a set of reeds Ive came to the conclusion that the reason why they break and chip is they are to resin rich thats why they are so smoth and shinny. Having to much resin will cause carbon to be brittle you need the corect matrix of resin and cloth.

So my question is can I make them dull or rougher ?(they would be as smooth as a 320grit emery cloth)

keep in mind, the tension of the reed dictates how fast it will close and how hard it will open. too tight and high rpm operation will work better but low rpm wont flow enough. too low a tension and the reed petal will give great low end but at high rpms wont close fast enough and you will ind up with low crank case preasures. this is why the there isnt much gain with v force reeds on a stock viper/srx. the stock reeds have the correct tension. you may want to make few sets with different thicknesses to see what matches the stock tension that it takes to open them. i know you like to make stuff with carbon fiber but the stock reeds work great for cheap. if you want to spend time, have you ported your stock reed cages and carb boots, how about a boost bottle, you could make one that actually fits good out of carbon fiber. that will do more for your motor than carbon reeds.
how about a carbon air box, clutch cover, chain case and cover, coul, back of headlight, bellypans, handle bars, handle bar pole, etc.....

just some suggestions, how about some 144 tipped up rails for an m10, you make a set and ill test them for you for a few years.
