96 xt v max help!!!!

my buddy has a 96 xt v max 600 he has had it for 3 year and has not ran right since he has owned it... he has had all the seals replace new oil pump carbs clean every thing u can think of and it still dont run right....it takes off good but it olny get up to about 30 35 mph and thats it!!!! it revs to i think around 6,000rpm and that is all its got it... it just doesent have anypower.... clutching? warped carb? anyone ever ran into this problem? we r going to work on it tonight so any idea would be great

mine did similiar to your friends but topped out about 45-50 , pulled hard but fell on its face right there. i pulled the carbs and cleaned them , same thing , had a buddy look at it and guess what i found out that day , i learned i dont know as much about carbs as i thought , he went thru them and cleaned them and it ran like a raped ape ever since.

hmmm he has had it at the dealer 3 time and iv clenned them at least 4 time and it still run crappy idk what else to do would a clutch make it act this way?

try and bypass tors system but they usualy act up at 3000 rpm but its worth a try

The one I have was doing almost the same thing. I eventually put a new coil and wire ends on. Runs great now.

give it a compression test,,ckeck clutching for worn out parts,,how's
jetting look??,plug boots good ckeck out??

Check the clutches then coil. I suspect the clutches.
