Well went out on the maiden voyage. Didn't make it more than 4 kms.
I first noticed a small problem when I got on the throtle about 2 min into the ride . If I gave it gas, (slowly to the bar) RPMs wouldn't climb to full potential. So I back off the gas. Ride for 100 ft. Now if I punched it WOW powerband. Kept going for not long at all.

When she died:
there was no imminent poping or grinding. I took a slow corner got in a straight line moderatly hit the gas. Now to explain how much gas I gave it. The track spun maybe 6 inches then she bogged down. I hit the kill switch, rolled 10 feet to a stop.

Lifted hood:
Took out spark plugs, right one was extreamly tough to turn out. Pulled over, seemed okay. didn't hear any metal on metal or bad sounds.
-put plugs back in :
Pulled her over and ran for 3 seconds really bad and stalled. The last stroke of the engine sounded like there was a little metal on metal.
Now, I cant even pull the pull cord to trun the motor.

Note: Track still spins

Any suggestions.? I have a bad feeling this is going to take more than half my riding season.
As well I bought this machine from a dealer! I put less than 6 miles on it.

:dunno:

he only said he would do 50/50. Called them already 20 minutes after it blew. Thought about calling yamaha head office.... Really at a loss...

Can you get a pic of the plug tips posted on here?

Man, that SUCKS! There's really a ton of things that may have gone wrong here. Did you just pick the sled up from the dealer this fall? Was it suposedly prepped and ready to go(trying to figure out of they serviced the carbs)? If it's not a lean burn down from a plugged jet, then it will have to be mechanical and kinda hard to pin that on the dealer seeing as it was likely a trade-in. Kinda rock and hard place like. 50/50 isn't bad depending on what actually happened......and what your deal with the dealer was like. Kinda need to know whats wrong. Just be careful you don't pour more money into it than it's worth. For example, you can buy the sled in my sig(Vmax Rage, not the Nytro :D ) for $2300 CAN.

x3, You might have broke a ring or something seizing it up. The belt can slip letting the track turn if the motor is seized up.

x5. the dealer better make good on this.....

Swuff, i hope you get some riding in this year on a sled this year, i feel for any brother who has a problem pre trail season.

Good luck to ya!

Just looked at bill of sale from dealer.. Purchased Nov 3rd 2008! yes this fall!!!
$2100 + tax +licence fee ($25) = $ 2398. 00 They put it in my name for me on the 8th for me. SO we are talking less than 4 weeks ago.

The worst of it is the time and the energy I put into this thing.. The hours I spent reading, researching, using the time of others to get it going .... AND ITS NOT EVEN SOMETHING I FREAKING TOUCHED!!!!! Suspension worked FANTASTIC!!!! Thanks to a few great members on here....
I can be man enough to say this is way out of my league. I couldnt begin to describe what works or happened.
I have to drive it to P*$(@rs%(N... And find out whats going on..

Worst case, I buy a new sled from P*$(@rs%(N .. and yes, will only be yamaha! THe way I see it, this is My first year in the sport and I have been dealt the worst hand possible (mostly). Now, hopefully I can have a season or two a little more enjoyabul. (payed my dews.)

By the way; insult to injury!

THERE'S A BLIZZARD OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
GOD LOVE GEORGIAN BAY

Chief were you mentioning something about a sled? if so email me some details as I might be in the market again...

just bring it back and leave it in the lot and then go in and make a big 'ol fuss with them, thats what i would do and then go buy crewcheifs Vmax Rage 600, I read the whole article, and I think its a good buy for 2300

I hope you took out FULL COVERAGE SNOWMOBILE INSURANCE.. make it go BYE BYE!!! They SINK really fast!!!! hint hint...

Thanks Guys...
Chief Looks like a fantastic deal. I should be going down to the dealer tomorrow. Feel out whats the scoop..
Love the video!
By the way thanks for the votes, takes a bit of the sting away...

Just a opinion from prior expierance dealing with dealers: I think youll find it will get you alot further to stay extremely calm(even tho your pissed) and let the dealer make you the offer to help before you yell and ruin the situation for any kind of real customer service to take place. I learned this from working in a dealership, the ones who came in screaming, threatning and beligerent went out mad and got nothing.

Ask him to diagnose what happend to it right there in front of you and go from there. If it was due from a lack of carb cleaning and they were supposed to service the sled before putting it out for sale, youll have more weight on your side. If it was the rings spinning on the piston ruining the cylinders( this was a warranty issue on the twins) they will be your allie in getting yamaha to cover it if possible. If they(yamaha) wont cover it, alot of times you can get them(dealer) to agree to sell you the parts at thier cost and 50% of the labor. Good luck, its bad news but how you handle it will determine how bad it really gets.

Good update:
Dropped the the machine off back at the dealer. Mechanic pulled pull cord, as expected no pull happened. Next he went to the primary clutch ( smaller and lowest out of motor)?
Wiggled and rotated. Seemed to sound okay... but not great.. went back to pull cord.. worked like a charm.. We dint try to start it, rather left and was told they will let me know this week.

Now I just dont know what to expect to come from this sled next?
Cheers 4 Now

Hey DON,, are you saying the "NOSBOY" approach would NOT WORK???? Usually I go in there kicking and screaming and threatening the whole place!!!! I usually threaten bodily harm to EVERYONE who is involved and then usually arson afterwards... You mean it DON'T work that way????
