are the power valves clean and adjusted?
no pull thrus on the valves?
what secondary spring are you using? don't just say gray.....lol. what brand?
is the helix a straight cut 52 deg or is it a multi-angle helix, like 50/46 etc?
also, how is the primary setup....what spring, what weights?
what are your rpms out of the hole and what are they once your moving towards top end?
adjusting the twist to the spring, is a crappy way (imo) to stiffen the spring up. you want a spring that has more side pressure, simply from the install. you don't want alot of twist to it. one of the springs i use, is the arctic cat red/white spring. only about 30-40 deg of twist to it. use hole #3 on the sheave and hole #1 on the spring cap. that will give you approx 30deg when you are at the soffest position of the slot. now give it like another 1/4" to 3/8" of a turn. with the cat red white spring. i can help you get the hi-tech working for your sled, w/your newly studded track. you just need to answer my questions w/good accurate info.

I do not know what brand spring is in it, only that when I had it apart today, the spring was sliver in color with blue marks on the side. (read somewhere it is a Polaris spring.)
I was only going to increase the spring pressure to get it working, then buy the right spring.
I am not sure what is in the primary, it is a Hi-Tech as well.
The helix only had 1 number stamped on it, but it has a curved ramp. I can take it back apart tomorrow and take a picture of it.
I am not even getting out of the hole, the belt is moving down the secondary too quickly, and I don't want to burn up the belt.
The strange thing is everything worked awesome last year, and now that I studded it, I have issues?

you can order the cat red/white spring from www.hiperf.com
what weights and rivets are you using?
yes, that's the 911 response kit from hitech....i have that and love it too.
what # is on the helix....52? if so, its a straight 52.
you have the polaris silver/blue spring and its most likely lost its memory. get the cat red/white spring. they're around $20.
dude, just call me.....920-905-0969 cell

if u look closely to the secondary polaris spring u will see they are not twist the same way .....so make sure to put the good degree on secondary .. i think u need to put like 120 to get 60 wrap can't remember i put that spring in garbage

That's what Hauck told me about their secondary springs. The Hauck red I have is longer and not the same as a yamaha. Many have told me that hauck uses yamaha springs and paints them. But their spring is wound differently then a yamaha. What the hell!!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED...
Ordered a stiffer secondary spring, but i am somewhat impatient, I wound the spring a little tighter, and WOOHAA, it is back to it's ridicules fast self..... although now it's hooked up.
The question i have for some of you veteran tuners, how the heck do you look at the tack and watch where you are going, this thing accelerates faster than any I have had...
New problem, where do you get a seatbelt.. HAHA
Happy again, thanks for all the feedback.

Got a unpainted spring with 2 yellow dots from Hi-Tech, seems a little weak still , got a inch of pre-load, and then adjusted to full tight. I am however a fairly big guy at 250lbs.mopar1rules said:toolman, did you end up getting the cat red/white spring? that's the spring you want.
So the sled is hooked up good.
I started another post, I was just looking for wide open RPM.
