finally snowed enough here to go for a burn. ive got the 98 MSRX 700. the clutch is as follows.8BU10 w/2 rivets, yellow spring no marks,,,jetting 145,145 and 147.5,,,42.5 pilots. took her out in about 4 inches fresh snow. wide open, was only at about 7100 rpm. speedo doesnt work either.anyways. i really expected to have to hang on. noticed that when i give her gas to take off quick it sputters a bit. have to feather it a bit. seems like the top end isnt there. it was previously jetted for 6000 ft. im now at 2400. i beli8eve that there is more to this sled than that. it is probably clutching. also gas tank is about 1/4 full and gauge shows almost full. any ideas. one last thing. the temp probes are all hooked up, lighted, stuck in the pipes, but doesnt seem to move. do these take a while to get hot? any feed back would be great. PS power valves are clean.

I got it. You have a fouled spark plug. Your running on 2 cylinders. Start it up & feel which pipe does not get warm. They are touchy to start.

Better make sure you check your jetting on bottom, mid, and top end when you get it going. That much drop in elevation may have you running lean.

He is running stock flatland jetting. I will bet the farm he has a fouled plug & is running on 2 cylinders.

I'm not contradicting the dropped cylinder at all... just saying I would check jetting with that big of a drop in elevation after he gets it running right. Actually sounds like if that is stock flat land jetting, the previous owner was probably letting it run rich at 6000'. I just don't like to take simple checked things like this for granted.
