i bought an 01 srx about a month ago from a guy at a bar for $700 the top end is a hauck 780 and the sled only has 1000 miles on it but he said last spring he was riding it and it lost power so he tore the top end down and never got to fixing it i honed the cylinders got new pistons and gaskets and put it back together i checked the compression it was 150 on all three is this normal and can i run pump gas this is my first srx and i am not real experienced with this stuff so any help would be appreciated thanks
 
Good deal!!! thats the best place to get good deals.... gonna have to run race gas if it has high compression heads... its better for it
 
150 is hight so yea pump gas problly isnt good for ya is there aftermarket heads on it??? mine has shaved heads and only pulls 133 ....
 
I dont know if the heads are shaved the guy i bought it from didnt have alot if info it sounds like he only owned it for a year
 
also he had two base gaskets rtved together on it i called hauck and they said it calls for stock 01 gasket so ?
 
they probally put two base gaskets on it to reduce the compression a bit to get away with lower octane fuel.my 780 also pulls 150 p.s.i on my guage and i mix my gas 70% 91 oct and 30% 112 octane. you gotta give them good fuel or they will detonate and break the bottom of the cylinders on the intake side off.$$$$$$$. I've got 1800km on mine so far and no problems.
 
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal man. I actually won my first SRX in a poker game (its now my parts sled since I got it for $150, it was pretty toasted and missin alot of parts) Theres always somethin to be said about buyin and sellin sleds when your sittin around drinkin.... good times,,,good times.
