I'm having a problem with my 98 srx bogging badly when I release the throttle. It doesn't do it all the time, mostly when I release the throttle after wide open to slow down for a corner or turn. When I try to re-apply throttle, the sled bogs as if its not getting spark. If I allow the sled to come to an almost complete stop, it will take throttle application as if nothing is wrong-even another wide open shot is no problem. I'm thinking the problem is electrical, maybe the throttle overide system. Any thoughts on diagnosis or repair?

Sounds like its the TORS(throttle overide) kicking in. Either your sensor is shot or more likely that your throttle cable is too tight. Check and make sure the throttle cable is seated properly and if so you need loosen it off slightly until your problem goes away.

I would consider lubing the cable as well, or at least checking to see how much drag is on it with one end dis-connected. But I'll bet you're cable is a touch too tight.

is it clutching,,,not back shifting right,, or in the motor,,sounds like a rev
limiter kicking in???

yes, its a very annoying problem when we had the whole sled apart and put back togather, to find out this was our only problem. a tight throttle cable... Easier said then done... i had the cable as loose as it would get and it was still tight... i'm still trying to figure this one out.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I can't wrench on the sled till the weekend, but i'll check the tension on the cable. Is there a connector I could disconnect on the TORS to see if that is in fact the problem?

Does it go right down to 3000 rpm before u can hit on the gas again?

You cant just unhook it
u need to bypass it..
Hook the two wires from the carbs together and hook the other others from the handle bars together..

mine been bypassed for awhile now..

I've seen them held too tight from improper routing of the cable after removing/reinstalling air box to clean the carbs.
