Just finished a few pre-season things on my '98 and started it up on the lift to run it and 15 secs after start up the thumb warmer was smokin and got so hot it started to melt a small hold in the tip of the throttle lever.
Anybody ever see this or have it happen??
Thanks

sounds like a short circuit to me. I've never seen it on a thumb warmer as I'm new to sledding, but I've seen smoke come out of a lot of things at work.........even caused a few

never seen them smoke ...but i know they will burn the crap out of your thumb ...if over half way up .....sounds like a short or just bad warmer .....

My original problem was that when I completely redid this sled that I forgot to plug in the temp switch so full current was running to the grips and thumb. So check that connection behind the temp switch. Now it controls the hands perfect, but the thumb is sooo hot still. Only sled I have ever owned with an issue like this. A second post on this a few days ago that others have used a seperate switch which I am going to do.
This was me when it was NOT plugged in>

okay, i think my one of my hand warmers took a crap and now neither of them work , and the thumb throttle is getting all the juice! hah at least your was easy! did you have any problem with your wire harness under the motor?

With all the sleds I have owned and all the miles put on them, I have never had a single issue with the wire harness. Luck I guess.
