Closed face vs modular vs snocross

Ive been having a horrible time with my closed face helmet icing up lately...wondering what you guys thoughts on helmets were...been thinking about switching over for a year or two now
 
A snoX helmet with a good pair of goggles will never fog up. In the like 8+ years I have used a Sno X helmet with proper goggles, I have yet to have any fogging let alone icing issues. Otherise, by all means, go with an electric shield if you want to stay with a traditional helmet.
 
i've got a sno-x helmet and a modular helmet. the modular won't ice up, as long as the breather tubes aren't plugged w/ice. the sno-x helmet seems to be ok at first in the ride. towards the end of the night, if it does start to fog/ice up, it will continue to do so for me and is a real PITA to keep scraping the lenses w/my gloves all the time. also, the sno-x helmet is colder. all kind of air leaks around the goggles. i really like my modular. the modular even has a sun visor built into it.
 
I have both helment went back to a close face fore trail and just picked up a modular but use a mx style for off trail riding.I used a mx probaly for trail riding for 10 years until last year.
Just a fyi for you guys looking to get into mx helments.Just because one person never had problems with googles fogging or fosting dosen't mean your going to everyone's faces are shaped differntly.I must have 8 different pairs of goggles and only 1 pair will work for me and them are okley o frames.It got quite expensive to find that out.

I have a skidoo modular. Actually I have 2 now. I like my modulars. Built in sun shield flips down. No fogging. I put on an electric shield to make sure I don't ever have issues with icing. Talking on a communicator isn't as clear as with others but it works.
 
I have a skidoobie hat with an electric shield and I couldn't be happier.
The only issue I've ever had is when the vent holes get iced up. Then you have a small problem with suffocating. Nothing like zipping along at 80 only to discover you can no longer breath. Kinda interesting trying to stop and pop the face shield and mask all at the same time before you pass out and die. Keep the air passages clear and it's a great lid.
 
I also have a skidoo modular with the mask. These do run small. I've rode snowmobile in -6F before the wind and it worked awesome until one of the tubes came outta the mask, but thats a simple fix. And after the mask and straps get formed to ur face you wont have to worry about that anymore. I won't go back after having this helmet.
 
Well I can faithfully say no fogging at -15F and -40F below wind chill. With the side wind and blowing snow we had, I did have both sides of the vents freeze shut. You can still breath but not as easy. So you just stop and pop the ice out and go again.
