iv read all the stuf about adjusting power valves. still not clear on procedure. my repair cd basically tells me how to test. can someone give me a step by step adjustment procedure.i need a foolproof explanation. turn the servo motor counter clockwise then what. it says to loosen the 2 bolts on the power valve housing.how does this adjust valves and play in cable. i need help please.just a step by step explanation would be great.

so then if it moves you just line it up by turning it ccw after you reattach the cables?
Thanks for all the pics and the info.

Shouldn't need to take the cables off anything.

The mark is if it moves while your adjusting, move it whichever way it needs to go to line up on the mark again. I would idle it below 900, mark it, and then check it once more just to be sure your mark is correct before adjusting.

When adjusting, loosen the valve cable of whichever one your going to adjust first to give the cable some slack. Then set your 2.5mm at the valve housing, then tighten the cable back up enough to get the slack out again. That ones done, on to the next one. Just make sure to check that the servo is staying on your mark between adjustments.

Hey guys , i am not trying to jack this post , but am wondering, when i cleened and reinstalled my powervavles on an 02 viper and put it all back together, I just adjusted some of the play out of the servo motor by turning untill there was Cable tension on all ,then i pretty muched figured that was it, start & run, seems to be fine, Do I absolutely have to do somthing to avoid problems ? Sled were running good last season, I will be taking them out in a couple days.
Thanks for indput. I work 3rd shift and get tired and stupid this time of day.

do yamaha's procedure start to finish if you want it right on. wrong way
how you did it.

you won't have any problems what you did maybe a little perf. loss because
the valves may not be right,,but dunno till you get in there and see how
or if there off adjustment, you may be good to go yamaha gives you 2-3.5mm of play..

If you pull the power valves and dont mess with the servo, do you still need to readjust them????

no....

Servo auto sets when started,so unless you played with the cable adjusters you would be all set for a wile.

i just got into the habit and recommending at least "checking" often since it's so easy to do..and you can't tell right away if a cable pulls so your always keeping and eye on that too..win, win.

This is awsome information guys i was always intimadated to tackle the power valves but i think i will give it try seems pretty strait foward just one question does ot matter were you put the mark on the sevo motor?

PROGOLD

that was the easiest and best explanation ive seen. i adjusted in about 10 minutes. i think it went well. thanx for the help.
