Clutch set up for 190hp Viper.

Turk, MrViper? I would think it would be close to the same as a big bore or turbo sled. What are the "big boy's" running? Do i need to load up the tip or just add more to the center. Right now i have the heel and center loaded and tip empty. I can't remember how much though, i did it last year before the nitrous. Its a 50/40 helix with green spring at 80. Front spring is H/C red i think. I'm getting the sled into the shop tomorrow. A starting point would be nice, i have some racing to do on Sunday. 800 Doo and an 800 Cat.

what engine rpm are we looking at? what gearing in sled, distance raced ?

I would like to run it past the timing peak, probably 9100rpm. I don't really know where it would work the best and were the timing backs off. Or maybe its best to run it at the timing peak 8700 i think? The nitrous is a fogger that uses C-12. Gearing is stock for an 04 Viper S. Distance is 1/4 mile.

how big of shot of nitrous are you running.Long as it's not a high rpm mootor don't clutch for the nitrous clutch for the motor rpm.I have dialed a few sleds in running nitrous.I ran it all last year and just put it on my new sled.

whos pipes? is this just a base viper engine with a big shot of NOS or a modded one?, what I am trying to find out is where it makes power at what rpm?, so I know how much weight and helix angles to reccomend.

Bender pipes, stock motor, 50hp shot. Last year without the studs it was hitting 9200 on the nitrous, 8700-8800 off the nitrous. I've added 162 studs this year. Its a 136 ripsaw, all stock suspention.

whops was typing the same time as you.Clutch it for the pipes not the bottle.

I think peak power for bender pipes is 8700. So your saying clutch it for 8700 on the spray? Or clutch it for 8700 off the spray and let it screem to 9200 when i hit it?

well if you clutched it for the "hit" of nos, youd be a real dog off the bottle as it would be way under 8700 rpm all the time unless it was up on the bottle. So I would clutch it to be off the bottle fairly aggressively, your helix will work, secondary spring ok, maybe use a good amount of heel weight 5 grams , very small center weight-small bolt no washer and good tip weight, something in the way of 5-6 grams. Now it will most likely under rev off the bottle with some center weight, maybe if you could get it like 84-8500rpm lugged down low and let it build the further you get out youd be close possibly, it wouldnt be so high on the hit. Its gonnna take a few changes to the weight placement and amount to get it close. I dont think anyone will be able to give you exact amounts to use using the nos, Ryan(pro116) has had previous "nos time" and could further help i am sure.

clutch for 8700 off the bottle.9200 won't hurt that motor when yopur on the bottle. If you even talk to some makers of nitrous systems they will tell you not to clutch for it either unless your running like a 100hp shot or something.Even though your sled is over reving on the bottle it is still a large gain.

Thanks, i really apreciate your advice and alway's look for your posts.
I'm not looking for an exact set up, just a ball park. If its a dog off the bottle thats ok. I have a good set up for that. I'm racing with the spray this weekend and i'm hoping to kick some Doo and Cat but. I'm just wondering if i should let it go to 9200 on the spray or if i should add some tip waight like you say and keep the rpm down in the power peak? I'm not sure if the power peak is at 8700 or 9200 with the spray. I hope i have enough nitrous to test it. That little two pound bottle doesn't go very far. I'm hoping to test saterday, but i only have a few hours free time.
